Prayer For Someone Battling Cancer
Father,
You love ____ dearly. You know the plans you have for her, plans to prosper her and not to harm her, to give her hope and a future (Jer. 29:11). This is your will! We know that all things work together for her good (Rom. 8:28), though all things in themselves may not be good. Cancer is not your will for her! Rebellious cells in her body are not your design or plan. Yes, we live in a broken world, but you are working to fix what veers from your purposes. We join you in resisting and fighting this disruption in our friend's life! We thank you that you have already accomplished everything necessary for her complete healing. On the cross you became cursed, despised, rejected, sorrowful, and familiar with suffering as you took into and upon yourself all the brokenness of the world, including this disease. Now, by your own wounds she has been healed (Is. 53:3). When you submitted to death and rose from death to life you defeated the enemy. And if the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is living in ______, then the Spirit now gives life to her mortal body (Rom. 8:11). We believe this and ask now that your healing would be expressed realtime in ______. Let this word be made flesh in her (John 1:14). When you were here on earth, Jesus you taught us to enforce your authority over nature. You commanded us to leverage your Name and command creation to be restored according to your original design (Luke 10). We take up this assignment now for ______. We command her cells to obey the Word and will of the Lord! We command her immune system to rise and fight cells that do not belong. We curse the distorted mutations of your wondrous design. We cut off, by our faith, words, and Jesus' authority, the capacity for cancer cells in _____'s body to spread. We say, Praise the Lord, ______! May all that is in you praise His name. And because it is impossible for rebellious cells to praise the Lord, they must be evicted now, and be replaced by good cells that can honor God! This is the mountain you instruct us to move by our words and faith. We don't ask you to move it; we tell it to move in your Name (Mark 11:23) because your words in our mouths are as your words in your mouth. And now we thank you ahead of the evidence for your promised and completed victory. We have asked and believed that we have (past tense) received this answer (Mark 11:24). This is already done! Along the way, grant _____ peace and joy. This seems impossible, but grace is there for her. Give her certainty now of your determined outcome! Give doctors wisdom to work with you (whether they acknowledge that or not). Give _____ wisdom to know what adjustments to make in her daily life. And taken together, your work with all human cooperation, let this healing come here and now! We pray this in Jesus' wonderful Name, because all your great promises are already Yes! in Jesus. And so in response we simply say,
Amen!
God, You had a simple plan to save me. Thank You that my faith alone makes me right in Your sight! Unlike all other religions, I don't have to do anything to earn my salvation. Help me to accept and believe that this cancer is not the result of my not doing enough to be a good person, or falling short of Your standard. My relationship is made right with You from start to finish, only by believing and trusting in You. Thank You that I am made righteous by faith alone. Thank You for coming to save me.
Lord, my eternal relationship with You began from the moment I first believed. I don't need to work for it, and I don't need to hope it will come to pass someday. My life in You is a done deal. It is not based on my feelings, my struggles, or even this cancer. I have life only because I have You! In You, I live and move and have my very existence. Thank You for Your assurance that I am Your child and You will never leave or forsake me. Help me to comprehend what this new life in You actually means, through good times and bad, in health and in sickness. Thank You, Lord, the Giver of Life!
Father,
We come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ, interceding for all those facing a cancer diagnosis. Your children are being attacked not only with this infirmity but with thoughts that fill them with fear and dread.
And yet, I know Your word says You did not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Lord, we cast these thoughts and cares aside and choose to think on Your goodness and mercy.
We choose to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report; things with virtue and praise. We choose to think about You. You keep your children in perfect peace when they keep their minds stayed on You. Help your children set their minds and affections on things above, not on their cancer diagnoses.
Guard their hearts with all diligence. Don't let these thoughts move them from Your presence. Father, You are holy and just. And You love them unconditionally. Thank You for being here for your children in their time of need. Thank You for sending Your Son so they can have eternal life.
Lord, I pray for continued strength to endure. I believe that even this cancer diagnosis will work together for their good. Father, bless their families. Strengthen them. I know it isn't easy watching a loved one endure a cancer diagnosis. Renew their minds and encourage them. Reassure them that they are in the palm of Your hand.
Father bless all their doctors. Give them the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to treat these illnesses. Be glorified through their lives. Use them as You will. Use them as an instrument of praise. Use them as an instrument of worship. Use them as a testament of Your goodness, grace, and mercy. Use them to impart hope and faith in others.
We trust You, even in the midst of this trial. Be glorified, Father. Lord, I rebuke the spirit of fear. Through Your strength, your children will not allow fear to take control of their minds or spirits. They have the victory over cancer through Christ Jesus. Help them to always be a light. Let others look at them and see Christ, not suffering. Let others look at them and see hope and health, not death.
Father, You are the God of all comfort. Use them to comfort others with the comfort You supply.
Thank you, Lord, for everything You do for your children. Thank You for loving, protecting, and healing us. Thank You for being our great physician. Never take Your presence from us. We need it in life and death.
In Jesus's name,
Amen.
God of healing mercy, in Jesus your Son you stretch out your hand in compassion, restoring the sinner, healing the sick, and lifting up those bowed down. Embrace us now in your loving care, particularly those afflicted with cancer, for whom this intention is offered. May the Spirit of Jesus bring us all health in soul and body, that with joy and thanksgiving we may praise you for your goodness...
