Prayer For Patience With Child
Dear loving and caring father
The only true and mighty God
I come before you acknowledging all that you have done for me
You have not made me childless, and I come with thanksgiving
Despite my iniquities, you have always stood by me
Forgive me my sins and bless my household with love
Everlasting Father, Help me to cherish my child regardless of whatever he has done
Help me to be patient with the son/daughter you have given me
Your word says, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Therefore, give me the grace to train up my child in the right ways that are pleasing in your sight
Guide the path of my child in whatever decisions he/she makes
Teach him with your Holy Spirit to be obedient
Give him the grace to be remorseful and learn from his mistakes
Open his heart to change his attitude for the better
Above all, give him a repentant spirit to always fear and worship you
Amen
Dear Lord, I know you have a plan for my child and I thank you and praise you for allowing me the gift of being his/her mother. I am frustrated because I want to see the fruits of my labor, Lord. Please give me the patience to continue being obedient to your word in raising my child. Teach me to wait in hope and confidence for you to make your will known in your time. Amen
Please forgive me for my impatience, especially when ________. God, I ask that You will enable me to have patience with the everyday innocent and not-so-innocent failings of my children. It is my job to teach them how to be Your little disciples. Please enable me to reprimand my children and restore them with gentleness and mercy as You do. Thank you, that with Your help, I can be patient as You are. Not a day goes by that I don't need Your Holy Spirit poured out in me so I can be Christlike in my patience, especially with those who live in our home, or ________. (List any other items that challenge your patience personally). Amen
I pray as ________ and ________ grow in You, that they will be patient with everyone, not paying back wrong for wrong but instead, they will always try to be kind to others (1 Thessalonians 5:14b-15). When things are not going their way, they may be tempted to be impatient with You or others. Please give them the faith to trust in Your perfect timing, the patience to wait on You, and the strength to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12, Psalm 130:5). As circumstances and people are difficult, I ask that ________ and ________ will remember to come to You for help when they are tempted to be impatient. In Jesus' name, I pray against any plan Satan would have to cause impatience to take root in my children's lives. Rather, I ask that You shape their characters, through the power of Your Holy Spirit, so they will be patient and gracious as You are. Amen
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. (NLT)
I feel the strain, and am bent under the weight of it.
Will I have a job when this is all over?
Will people I love die?
Will I die?
Will my kids finish school?
Will they be OK?
Will I ever see other humans again
My strength is gone.
This is so heavy;
I feel the heaviness deep in my soul.
He renews my strength? He restores my soul?
I need strength. I need to be restored.
Lord, give me Your strength. I cannot carry this weight alone.
Restore my soul.
When my child tests me, teach me, God, how to respond with wisdom.
When I grow irritable, send me patience.
When my fury rages, teach me the power of restraint.
When I become fixed in my ways, teach me to be flexible.
When I take myself too seriously, bless me with a sense of humor.
When I am exhausted, fill me with strength.
When I am frightened, fill me with courage.
When I am stubborn, teach me how to bend.
When I act hypocritically, help me to align my deeds with my values.
When mundane pressures threaten to overwhelm me, help me to remember how truly blessed I am.
When I lose my way, God, please guide me on the road back to joy, back to love, back to peace, back to you. Amen
Lord, it's horrible to admit, but some days my kids feel like the opposite of a reward. If iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17), today's the day I might just be whittled away. Right now, I'm hiding in the bathroom, trying and failing to reign in my overwhelming frustration.
Fill me with everlasting patience and drown my anger with your peace. Help me parent my kids the way you parent mewith kindness and love. Thank you for giving them to me. Amen
