Prayer For Passing Of A Father

Most merciful Father,
we commend our departed into your hands. We are filled with the sure hope
that our departed will rise again on the
Last Day with all who have died in Christ.
We thank you for all the good things
you have given during our
departed's earthly life.

O Father, in your great mercy,
accept our prayer that the Gates of Paradise may be opened for your servant.
In our turn, may we too be comforted
by the words of faith until we greet Christ
in glory and are united with you
and our departed.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, For they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted,
for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 5:3-10. Amen

Lord,
___ is gone from this earthly dwelling and has left behind those who mourn his absence.
Grant that as we grieve for our brother we may hold his memory dear
and live in the hope of the eternal kingdom where you will bring us together again.
Lord, our God, the death of our brother recalls our human condition
and the brevity of our lives on earth. But, for those who believe in your love death is not the
end, nor does it destroy the bonds that you forge in our lives.
We share the faith of your Son's disciples and the hope of the children of God.
Bring the light of Christ's resurrection to this time of testing and pain
as we pray for _____ and those who love him through Christ our Lord

Lord of Life and Death,
We pray for the soul of our beloved father, ____. Your breath gave him life. Your presence
sustained his life, and your hand holds him now at the end of life. Thank you for the gift of
life that ____ was to our Church, his family, and all who knew him. Through his witness and
his love, he brought the Good News of Jesus to all who met him. As he lies in eternal peace in
your arms, help us to mourn his death and celebrate his life, now and forever.
AMEN.

Lord, we are grieving now for someone we loved
and cherished. The experience of death and bereavement
can stir up in us feelings of fear for the future and lack of
confidence. Renew our confidence that you are always with
us no matter what trials face us now or in the future. We ask
this through Christ our Lord.

Dear God, the Father of us all, I thank you for my father. Along with my mother, through the marvel of your creation, my father gave me the gift of life itself. He was such a good teacher and mentor, such a wonderful example of how to live a life of faith. Please take care of him now and be generous with him as you prepare him for the rewards of eternal life you have prepared for him.
Amen

I cant believe I'm standing here,
Saying my goodbyes
To a Dad that meant the world to me,
My Dad with big brown eyes

Anyone who loved him
Will know how I feel today,
My Dad was the sunshine of my life
Who could light up the darkest days.

So goodbye Dad my only Dad,
Take your wings and fly
To eternal happiness and your reward,
through the big gates in the sky.
