Prayer For Marines

Eternal Father, Lord of Hosts Watch o'er the ones who guard our coasts. Protect them from the raging seas and give them light and life and peace. Grant them from thy great throne above the shield and shelter of thy love. Lord, guard and guide the ones who fly through the great spaces in the sky be with them always in the air, in darken storms or sunlight fair. Oh, hear us when we lift our prayer, for those in peril in the air! Grant to them Your eternal peace, Oh Lord, for they have followed your commandment, That No Greater Love has he, who would give up his life for another. Amen

God of our fathers, whose almighty hand leads forth in beauty all the starry
band of shining worlds in splendor through the skies our grateful songs before
Thy throne arise. Thy love divine hath led us in the past, in this free land by Thee
our lot is cast, Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide and Stay, Thy Word our law,
Thy paths our chosen way. From war's alarms, from deadly pestilence. Be Thy
strong arm our ever sure defense; Thy true religion in our hearts increase, Thy
bounteous goodness nourish us in peace. Refresh Thy people on their toilsome
way, Lead us from night to never ending day; Fill all our lives with love and grace divine, And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly through the great spaces of the sky.
Be with them traversing the air in darkening storms or sunshine fair. Thou who
dost keep with tender might the balanced birds in all their flight. Thou of the
tempered winds be near that, having thee, they know no fear. Control their minds with instinct fit what time, adventuring, they quit. The firm security of land; grant
steadfast eye and skillful hand. Aloft in solitudes of space, uphold them with Thy
saving grace. O God, protect the men who fly thru lonely ways beneath the sky.

Day is done, gone the sun, From the lake, from the hill, from the sky. All is well, safely rest God is nigh. Fading light, dims the sight, And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright. From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night. Thanks and praise, for our days, 'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, 'Neath the sky. As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

Dear Lord, We honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country's heritage, for all of us. Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made for their many different contributions to America's victories over tyranny and oppression. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

The Stars and Stripes, they flew forever always in his heart. He was loyal
to his nation and bravely did his part. Always thinking of his brother ever in his mind. He stood for love of country and most of all mankind. Now gazing down with his Master through a light and heavenly cloud, He's still looking out for us of whom he is so proud.

Gracious God,

A warrior fights for those who cannot fight for themselves. As a warrior prepares for battle, there is a solemn responsibility: to know how and when and if to take life, just as a warrior must know how and when and if to risk their own life. These matters of giving and taking life are truly best left in your capable hands, O God, and yet here we are, in the midst of this tarnished and imperfect world. Your call echoes through all the confusion; from Micah and Deuteronomy we hear your ancient claim upon our lives to do three things: to do justice, love mercy, and in all things to walk humbly with you. With your grace, these warriors can wholeheartedly and faithfully do justice by executing the duties they have been given. They can love mercy to not only be the first to fight but also to be the first to pray for what is lost in war on all sides. And as we turn from our greatest accomplishments and triumphs, may we walk humbly with you, God, where your peace passes all understanding, enfolding us for all eternity.

Blessed be, Amen.

Almighty Father, whose command is over
all and whose love never fails, make me
aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy
will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding
me against dishonesty in purpose and deed
and helping me to live so that I can face my
fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee
without shame or fear. Protect my family.
Give me the will to do the work of a Marine
and to accept my share of responsibilities
with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the
courage to be proficient in my daily performance.
Keep me loyal and faithful to my
superiors and to the duties my country and
the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make
me considerate of those committed to my
leadership. Help me to wear my uniform
with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the
traditions which I must uphold. If I am
inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am
tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should
miss the mark, give me courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant
me wisdom by which I may understand the
answer to my prayer.
Amen
