Prayer For Homeless And Hungry

Dear Lord,

We reverence you as the God of mercy, grace and provision. We thank you for the strength you give us each day. Lord, we intercede for those that do not have shelter of their own. Lord, bless them with protection from the elements, bless them to have sufficiency of food and clothing, bless them with joy and peace of mind. We know you are able to protect your people and supply our every need. Deliver the homeless to have their own residence and to bless them with the security of your love and protection each day.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Heavenly Father,

As we come before You again this day, we want to thank You for Your goodness and the love that You have shown to us. I thank You for your love and mercy that you extend to each of us. I want to pray for the homeless people in the St. Louis area and the people who have a heart for the homeless and dedicate their efforts to help those that are going through a hard time. Some are homeless by choice and others are homeless because of situations beyond their control. It makes no difference to You Lord, You love us all the same and no one is better than the other. Lord, You promised to supply our needs, and I am asking You to be mindful of people who don't have a home of their own. Lord, would You make a way for them, would You supply people to help them in their struggles. Would You speak love into their hearts and encourage Your people to share the riches You have let them borrow for a time. Lord, only You know what each person needs and I am asking You to take care of Your people. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Thanking You for hearing and answering my prayers. Lord, let me not do less than what You would have me to do. I love You Lord, amen.

Dear God,

Watch over your children,

Especially those with no homes to return to at the end of long and weary days.

Protect them from all harm and keep them from despair.

Open the hearts and eyes of those of us with blessings to share.

Unite our voices in a call for justice:

So that no man need ever lay down for the night on a wooden park bench because he has no home;

So that no woman need ever tuck her children into the backseat of her car because she has no home;

So that no child need ever wonder, Where will I feel safe? because he has no home;

So that all those who wander and all who are in need, find the shelter and the peace they seek.

Remind us, O God, that we cannot rest fully secure in our homes each night until all your children are, at last, home.

Amen.

O God of Mercy:

We hear the persistent call to feed the hungry and find shelter for the homeless. Stir our hearts to move more deeply in our walk with Jesus.

Help us answer the question, Why do we feel comfortable living beyond our needs when others do not have their basic needs met?

Help us not be hypocrites of lip service but the disciples of action.

Keep our hearts soft enough to keep hearing the cry of the hungry and the homeless.

Amen.

Heavenly Father we thank you because Your Word says that because You love us, You gave your only begotten Son to die for us. So, we thank you that Your love extends to every ethnic group, all genders, race, colour and socio-economic classifications. Right now, we offer this prayer for the homeless, poor and hungry. We pray that you will bless all men, women and children who may be without shelter across the globe. Also we pray for divine covering and blessing upon the homeless, poor and hungry who have no one to take them in.

We pray that Your Holy Spirit will flood them with warmth, security, protection and strength in Jesus Name. And we declare Psalm 46, that you shall be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We pray that they shall not fear even though the mountains may feel as though they are shaking; the Lord of Hosts shall be with them, because the God of Jacob is their refuge. We commit this prayer to You, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Of God, there is so much pain in this worldit makes me want to see the kingdom come today. All too often I see people living under bridges, in cardboard boxes, with little or nothing to eat. Several churches have ministries that seek out these people in very hard places and so I am asking You to bless them and their ministries. God, use these homeless people's problems to draw them close to You so they might have a saving relationship with You through Your Son's redemptive work at Calvary. Help someone receive a bit of hope today but most importantly, give them the only hope in this life and the life to come that is found only in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Even a small amount of hope is better than no hope at all. I pray I or someone else can give a homeless person who is hurting some hope. Many of them have lost everything but we can offer them the gift of everlasting life and they can inherit all things and for that is what I pray for the glory of the name I pray in, Jesus Christ, amen.

God, my Father, our church has seen the homeless and the hopeless up close and met them in person and it so breaks our hearts to know that we cannot do more than our food pantry, clothing, and personal hygiene accessories supplies will allow. Sometimes all we can do is give them these things and then offer them is a ride to a shelter but how often God have these shelters already been full. Father, come quickly; send Your Son in righteous judgment as I know you will execute justice upon all who have oppressed the poor. I feel helpless to help the hopeless because when their hope is dried up, they have nothing left. Many of these hopeless and homeless are veterans who have not been able to make it due to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and it makes me literally weep for these men and women who served their country only to have their country not serve them. Our nation has let them down God and it breaks my heart for them. I pray you come quickly oh Lord and in Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Great God, there are so many out there who have not only no place to sleep but nothing to eat. Help guide them to a place like a shelter or clothing and food pantry so that they might have something to fill their stomach. I know that You will come to help those who are unable to help themselves and those who receive no help in the coming kingdom. Until then, please give me discernment to know what do to for someone that's homeless. Perhaps take them to dinner or buy them a sleeping bag and a gift card for food. Oh Lord, I look forward to the day when there will be no more pain, sorrow, suffering, death (Rev 21:4), and certainly hunger. Speed that day my God and for those who are hungry and lost, fill them with the Word of God and bring them everlasting life in Jesus' name I pray.
