Prayer For Haiti Earthquake
Dear God, we know you hear those prayers, and we add ours to theirs. Please let all who love the people of Haiti join with them, on the ground, at round tables, making space Haitian people of all walks. Please help us to walk with them, listen to their ideas and step in when invited to be partners with the people of Haiti as they take steps toward a better life for all.Dear Lord, we know your heart, too, has broken time and time again by the centuries of abuse the Haitians have suffered: by nature, by other nations, by their own government.Ten years ago, we all yearned to believe that this massive earthquake would signal the change to an island nation already deep in poverty, already a land of broken promises.
We hoped that so many of us who love this nation and her courageous people would accompany them toward real, lasting change for the better.
But it hasn't happened, Lord.
Please, we pray, let us hear their voices, let us amplify their voices, strengthen our hearing so we will listen to our friends in Haiti, your most beloved children, and walk with them toward the bright, lively and whole life they deserve.
We pray this in the name of your precious Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen
Lord, we pray for Haiti and the Dominican Republic as the countries continue to recover from Hurricane Matthew. We praise you for children and families who've been given the provision to rebuild their homes and livelihoods. We pray for the Church in Haiti to continue to provide support to communities devastated by the disaster.
Dear Lord,
We lift up the nation of Haiti and all those affected by the devastating affects of Hurricane Matthew.
We pray for those who have lost loved ones and ask that you will be near to them during this time. Comfort them and let them know your presence in the midst of their deep grief.
We pray for Tearfund and our partners on the ground as they bring help and aid to those in the worst-hit areas. We ask you Lord for wisdom and strength so that we might be able to respond to this humanitarian disaster in the most effective and compassionate way possible.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for the government and local leaders as they decide how to respond in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, and start to identify the immediate and longer term needs.
Thank you Lord that it says in your Word in Hebrews 6:19, We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.'
Thank you God that you are good, and we praise and bless your Holy name.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen
Merciful God, a year ago we cried out to you for our brothers and sisters in Haiti, when thousands of their homes became their graves.1 Today, we remember those who were lost, may their names and memories be a blessing. God who watches over the widow and the orphan,2 watch over the mourners of Haiti, that they may find comfort and peace. God who binds up the wounds of the broken hearted,3 heal those who were injured. God who shelters us in peace,4 return those who were displaced to their homes. Rock of Israel, strengthen the hands of the people of Haiti and those who work alongside them. Be with them so that they will not fear as they walk forward from the valley of the shadow of death;5 give them courage as they rebuild their homes and communities. Help them to build a nation of prosperity and stability, fulfilling the vision of your prophet; They will rebuild ruined cities and inhabit them; they will plant vineyards and drink their wine, they will till gardens and eat their fruits.6 Help us, the members of this holy congregation,7 to keep our brothers and sisters in Haiti in our prayers and actions through the passing of time, along with all those who need our support. And let us say, Amen.

Father, we remember those in Haiti who lost their lives in the 2010 Haiti earthquake. We pray for those who still battle with grief and loss years later. We pray for children growing up having lost parents, siblings or grandparents. We pray those who still lack permanent shelter Lord God, we pray for your provision and protection for the next generation of Haitian children.
Lord, at times such as this,
when we realize
that the ground beneath our feet
is not as solid as we had imagined,
we plead for your mercy.
As the things we have built crumble about us,
we know too well how small we truly are
on this ever-changing, ever-moving,
fragile planet we call home.
Yet you have promised never to forget us.
Do not forget us now.
Today, so many people are afraid.
They wait in fear of the next tremor.
They hear the cries of the injured amid the rubble.
They roam the streets in shock at what they see.
And they fill the dusty air
with wails of grief and the names of missing dead.
Comfort them, Lord, in this disaster.
Be their rock when the earth refuses to stand still,
and shelter them under your wings when homes no longer exist.
Embrace in your arms those who died so suddenly this day.
Console the hearts of those who mourn,
and ease the pain of bodies on the brink of death.
Pierce, too, our hearts with compassion, we who watch from afar,
as the poorest on this side of the earth find only misery upon misery.
Move us to act swiftly this day, to give generously every day,
to work for justice always, and to pray unceasingly for those without hope.
And once the shaking has ceased,
the images of destruction have stopped filling the news,
and our thoughts return to life's daily rumblings,
let us not forget that we are all your children
and they, our brothers and sisters.
We are all the work of your hands.
For though the mountains leave their place
and the hills be tossed to the ground,
your love shall never leave us,
and your promise of peace will never be shaken.
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Blessed be the name of the Lord, now and forever. Amen.
Loving God, we pray in this moment for all who suffered through the earthquake that struck Haiti at 4:53 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010. Those seconds that counted less than a minute destroyed lives. More than 200,000 people died as a result, hundreds of thousands others injured and millions of Haitians were left without a home.
In the next hours, Haitians dug into still trembling rubble, willing themselves to find those whose frail voices they heard.
They prayed.
