Prayer For Graduation
Dear Lord,
May this graduation day be a celebration of your life within us.
We give you all the learning, the skills and the hard work of these years.
We pour out our gifts into your hands. May we hold this memory in our heart as we continue on our adventure!
Father, may we live a life that reveals your hope and be guided in everything we do by your everlasting truth.
Amen.
Our Father, God, how wonderful are the works of Your hands. As we gather here
today to celebrate a step forward into new places with new people and new
experiences, let us not forget the blessings that follow behind us. For this school, which
has given us a safe place to learn and a strong foundation to build upon as we take this
next step into Your world. For our teachers, who have so richly loved and cared for us,
even at our worst. For our families, who have cheered us on to the finish line and stood
by our side's through the many bumps in the road. And on this day especially, we thank
You for the friends that we have found among our classmates. For all the jokes that we
will laugh about in years to come, for the hardships and tears we have endured together
side by side, and for Your Love which has been made evident through the relationships
we will carry with us beyond these walls. Just as our school verse says, let us continue
to lay down our lives for each other just as You gave up Your life for each of us. Let us
love each other fearlessly and seek Your will earnestly all the days of our lives.
In Your Name we pray,
Amen.
Lord, fill my child will encouragement, hope, and stability as she begins a new way of life. Give her the strength and faith to step out on her own and become someone different. Help her to find her way with ease, erase conflicts before they occur, and intercede for her every second. Keep her feet from slipping and guide her in the right direction. Hold her hand as she makes decisions and help her to see the world through Your eyes. In Jesus's name, I pray. Amen.
Dear Lord,
As I look toward the future
Bright hope conducts this prayer,
For I know the plans You have for me
Were wrought with divine care.
Holy Spirit, lead me.
Let me run at Your command,
Yet be still and know that You are God
When trouble is close at hand.
Your Word will be a lamp for me,
A guide to light my way,
A solid place to set my feet,
A compass when I stray.
May I live my life to praise You,
Not for fortune, nor for fame,
May everything I say and do
Bring glory to Your name.
May my eyes stay fixed upon You
As I seek the way that's pure,
Tasting Your love and goodness
Sleeping and rising secure.
Planted by Your living streams
I'll delight in all Your ways,
Hidden by Your sheltering wings
With new mercies for each day.
Even in a dangerous land
When storms threaten to destroy,
At the cross I'll stand upon the Rock
My Strength, my Hope, my Joy.
Dear Lord, show me Your favor,
At all times keep me blessed,
May Your face ever shine upon me,
With peace and perfect rest.
Dear Heavenly Father, please take my son's hand and guide him with every step. Help him to walk in Your perfect will and to never wander from Your side. Give him hope for the future as he grows and becomes successful. Allow him to see the good in others as they see it in him. Help him to be a good worker, generous, and loyal. Make it so that those who work with him enjoy his friendship, his leadership, and appreciate his skills. Keep his foundation in You strong and steady. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
Dear God, we ask for your Holy Spirit to cover our children in your great peace and security. We pray that their thoughts would not be drawn to worry and fear, but instead by filled with the strength and confidence of your power every day. Help them to believe without question that you are surely with them, in whatever they may face, that they are never alone. Help them to know that you are mighty within them. We pray that you would plant deep inside their hearts a sense of overflowing gratitude, that they would be free from the love of money, and would walk in the freedom of contentment with an amazing spirit of giving to others. We pray that out of their lives would flow service, love, generosity, and compassion in a world that desperately needs to see your goodness in action. And when fear and anxiety battle against them, we pray that your words of truth will seal them in like a shield, giving them strength, and guarding their hearts and minds in your powerful peace.
"God, today is like any other. The sun rises. The winds blow. Rain falls. Rain does not fall. People are born. They laugh. They cry. They dance. They die. Today "chronos" time is as it has been since You gave it beginning, and will be as it is until you bring things to an end. Today is like any other.
Today is also fresh and new, and like no other day. Today is a "kairos" moment of opportunity that has come and will pass in a moment. Today is a passage from one epoch to another. Today is a gift from you. Grant grace to see it and seize it.
Today is a graduation, a passage, a completion, an inauguration. Today we pray for all those who have met the challenge and kept the faith to the commitments of their studies. Now they have a new "kairos" before them. We first offer thanks for the success of their journey. We thank for you granting them focus and direction and then strength and endurance. You created the knowledge and understanding they have mastered. You have created the curiosity and capacity for determination that led them in pursuit. All these good things came from you. Thank you.
Today we also pray for tomorrow. This graduation opens another door to another time. As you have led in the past, lead now into the future. Give them focus and clarity and a calling from you to understand their purpose and the courage to respond and step toward that purpose.
We pray in the words of scripture: 'Bless them indeed. Expand their territory. Let your hand be with them. Keep them evil, that they will not cause or experience pain.'
Today, we bless our graduates"
Dear God, how wonderful it is to have reached this graduation ceremony and I thank You that You have been with me throughout my education. Lord, may it be a time of great fellowship and fun for all of us, (students and teachers as well as friends and family), and thank You for all the good friends I have made and for all that I have learned as I have worked my way through this time of schooling.
Thank You for the skills that I have acquired and the teachers that have taught me so tirelessly. Thanks for all my friends and family that have been so supportive and for the for many lessons that I have learned.
Lord, it is an exciting and yet a daunting thing to realise that a whole chapter of my life is just about to close and a new phase of life is beginning. Be with me Lord I pray, as I step out into the unknown, and ask that You would lead and guide me through all the ups and downs of life that are likely to accompany me along this untried journey.
Lord, keep me close to You. I have been warned how easy it is to get sucked into the world's way of thinking and behaving and I don't want to find myself drifting into the ways of the world. Thank You for my parents and for the amazing support they have been throughout my life. And so Lord, here I am about to graduate, but I pray that You will continue to be my guard and guide, my teacher and instructor along life's way, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
