Prayer For Eating Disorder

Dear Lord I come humbly before you for my daughter/son who is struggling with Anorexia. Father you gave me this child as a gift for a short time on earth. I am feeling guilty, angry, frustrated, confused and deeply troubled. Lord please touch _________'s mind with peace, hope, courage, purpose, direction and strength. Lord I ask that you would clear her/his mind of all the confusing anorexic thoughts and fill her/his mind with complete peace and rest.

In Jesus name I take authority over every lying, tormenting, troubling spirit that would try and torment __________'s mind. Jesus paid the price on the cross for her/his welfare and I claim that complete healing today. Satan get your hands off my family, my child and my child's mind. I claim victory over this situation. God is bigger than Anorexia. My God is a healer. My God is a deliverer and my God shall deliver ___________ from the clutches of Anorexia.

Father I now ask that you would bring complete peace and trust to my heart and mind. Help me to have big faith. Help my emotions to be steady and stable each and every day. Help me to daily relinquish control over this situation for your Word tells us that apart from You we can do nothing. Now Lord I know it is Your will to completely heal _________ for Your Word tells us so. You are not a man that You should lie. Therefore I will now, in faith, begin to start thanking You for healing my daughter/son. I stand on Your promise that says He who began a good work in ____________ will perfect it until the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.I now choose to walk in faith not in fear. You will complete the healing process and I am thanking You for bringing this about. In Jesus name we pray. amen

Eternal Savior, Your Word asks us to present our body as a living sacrifice, but those with binge eating disorders may at times struggle. But Father, as they struggle to treat their body with love and care, I pray that every scheme of the enemy against them will be dispelled in Jesus Name. I ask right now that You help them to present their body as a sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You because this is an act of worship, Amen.

Oh Lord, please help those with eating disorders to see things like You do! You do not look at the appearance or the height of an individual's stature. Instead You do not see how we see things but those with eating disorders only see my outward appearance, but Lord You look at the heart. So right now, I pray that those with eating disorders will not fixate on their outward appearance, help them to focus on the development of their heart in Jesus Name, Amen.

Dear Lord, Your Word says that charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting but someone who fears You will be praised. Father, the inward content is what matters not the outward, yet those with binge eating disorders fail to see this. Lord I pray, that when they look in the mirror, help them to love what You see. Give them strength to overcome their disorders so that they can grow in You, Amen.

Righteous God, Your kingdom is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit! Lord I pray that those with eating disorders, will remember this when they consider binge-eating. I pray that they will not live for themselves, but for You because I know that if they live for selfish desires, they will never be truly happy; Lord hear this prayer we ask, Amen.

Just as we read in Isaiah 58:9, He is ready to answer your call. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer you; you will cry for help, and He will say: Here am I. Sometimes it might feel that He is far away, but in reality, He is close at hand. Prayer can help you enter His presence.

Do your best not to let anything stop you from approaching Him. Don't deprive yourself of His presence or His power. Remember this key truth in Ephesians 3:12, In him and through faith in him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Keep the communication lines with Him open. Regardless of how you feel about things, whether you're battling guilt, shame or feelings of unworthiness, remember that none of these things need keep you from going to God in prayer. Just go to Him as you are.

Temptations to engage in eating disorder behaviors seem to come often some days. You may not always feel prepared to handle them. Why not look to God's Word for help? Mark 14:38 says, Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak. Why not consider starting your day with prayer and facing potential triggers in prayer? You do not have to do this alone.

If you aren't sure what to say, simply talk about whatever is on your mind, whatever it is that you feel, whatever it is that you want for your recovery. If the words still won't come, don't despair. Romans 8:26-27 tells us that the Holy Spirit will pray on our behalf. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our heart knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with his will. You can always rely on the Holy Spirit's prayers!

Eating disorder recovery takes a lot out of a person. Some days the battle seems constant. To this end, I think 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says it best, Pray continually.

Lord Your Word reminds us that our body is the temple of Your Holy Spirit that dwells within us. I pray that those with eating disorders will remember that their body is not an insignificant physical reality but is something that is so precious to You. Lord help them to know that they are not their own, but they were bought for a price. Father, please help us to glorify You in our body. Help those with binge eating disorders to love their body just as You love it, Amen.

Heavenly Father, because of You I do not have to fight this battle alone. Although I sometimes struggle with binge eating disorder, I will stand firm and see the deliverance that You will give me. I am not afraid or discouraged by what I suffer. I know that although I feel defeated, I am never alone because You are always with me. Thank You Father for my deliverance, Amen.
