Prayer For Difficult People

Father, I may be blind to my own role in toxic relationships. Help me see the truth about myself. Apply the healing power of Your Word to my heart and mind. Deliver me from any stronghold that causes me to harm people with my words and actions. Save me from self-destructive patterns.

I struggle in my relationship with ______. I need You to give me wisdom on how to love ____ well. You are my shield and defender. Show me how, when and where to erect boundaries in our relationship. I believe You are my healer and I trust You to guard my heart and mind.

I need Your specific directions on how to interact with ______.

I want to love _____ with a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. (1 Timothy 1:5)

Help me to love ______ courageously. Fill me with Your truth and compel me to fearlessly tell the truth with love. Let Your perfect love cast out all of my fears related to our relationship.

I forgive ______ for hurting me. I ask You to forgive me for _______ and _______. I acknowledge my emotions: _______, _________, and _______. And I invite You to steady my heart so my emotions do not rule my decisions

I surrender what I think our relationship should be. Please transform it so that it honors You.

In Jesus, I pray. Amen

Jesus, I am feeling ________ around {insert name} right now. I confess that I am frustrated, hurt, and even angry. Lord I ask that you would help me to remember the bigger picture though that this person needs You as much as I do. I pray that you would lead them to Your saving grace, that you would cause my heart to overflow with the same desire that Paul had for the Israelites, and that the salvation of this person would be the overwhelming cry of my heart. Lord open their eyes to see Your grace.

Lord we pray,
Sometimes the most difficult people
Are the loved ones in our home
Help us improve our relationship
With a sense of love and compassion and understanding.

Let the same attitude be
Reflected to one we meet outside
May judgement and strife not hinder us
From sharing the peace of Christ.
Amen!

Help us all to accept and forgive those who have failed to treat us with respect and dignity. Control our thoughts, our actions and the words we utter, so that we would not sin against You.

Help us to not seek revenge in circumstances such as these, so we can be at peace with both You and those around us. In Jesus' precious name we pray, Amen!!

God of peace, lover and guardian of charity, bestow thy true peace and love on all the people I find difficult. Give them remission of their sins, and by thy power help me to escape out of their snares and those of my invisible foes.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that you show me the way,
for I do not know how to deal
with this difficult person in my life.
I know that you've placed them
here for a reason and I am grateful

for that. Grant me your Godly Wisdom
so that I may uplift your name!

Give me strength and courage so
that can forgive them just as
you have forgiven me.

Please guide my thoughts and
actions as I deal with them.

AMEN!

O God, Creator of difficult people, bless me with the strength, fortitude, wisdom and equanimity of spirit to deal with the difficult people You have placed in my life. Grant me the ability to see the next disaster well enough in advance to dodge, divert, or otherwise disable it before it happens, or at least to minimize its ill effects. May my buttons be hidden from view so that Your difficult people may not so easily press them next time as they have done so very well of late. May You grant sufficient insight to Your difficult people in order that they may come to understand speedily and in our day how truly difficult they are, knowing they would surely turn from their difficult ways were they possessed of even the slightest bit of self-awareness. Open the hearts of these Your difficult people to feel compassion for the pain and stress which, sometimes by their actions and oftentimes by their mere demeanor, they have caused in my life, are causing in my life now, and without Your divine intervention seem inevitably ready to cause again. Open their eyes, O God, so that they may see the truth of the situation as You and I, O God, see it: that I am not fundamentally an unhappy person, and that my unhappiness therefore rests with them and with their oh so difficult ways.

Father, I have to thank You for looking beyond my faults and for loving me unconditionally. Forgive me when I fail to love others in the same way. Give me eyes to see the needs of the difficult people in my life, and show me how to meet those needs in a way that pleases You.

In Jesus' Name,

Amen.
