Prayer For Couples Fighting

Jesus, I lift up my heart to you. It is cold and hard and bitter roots have formed. You know why and I don't think you blame me. I truly think you understand. But I don't want to be known as an angry or sad or pathetic woman. Regardless of my circumstances, I want to be a woman who is close to you, and receives her value from you, who knows she is loved, and who has the strength to persevere and live fully no matter what. So I give you my heart. Show me what's inside. Cleanse me deep down. I give you all of the hidden places, all of the things I am clinging to so tightly even my pain and entitlement and resentment and anger and I ask that you will forgive me, change me, heal me, and strengthen me. Amen.

Father of love and goodness, in the prayer Your Son taught us, we always say, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
We admit that many times we say these words without really meaning them.
We do not try to practise them.
We ask forgiveness and say we forgive, but our heart goes on full of hurts, rancour and resentment.
Lord Jesus Christ, You gave us a marvellous example of forgiveness when You forgave those who crucified You. Today I want to imitate You and forgive my wife/husband for the times she/he hurt me, and I accept her/his forgiveness for the times I hurt her/him.
Lord Jesus, You know that we are human and imperfect and, during our married life and in the days to come, we sometimes hurt one another. When this happens, grant us the grace to always forgive and accept forgiveness.
Amen.

Dear Lord,

I desire to walk in the spirit and to honor you with my life and marriage. Forgive me of my sins and teach me to walk in righteousness. Lord, I will no longer allow my pride to get in the way of oneness with my wife. I will stop fighting with my wife and start fight alongside my wife. Fighting for peace, hope, faith and righteousness. I will pray with my wife, I will meditate on the word with my wife, I will seek after your kingdom first with my wife. Lord, be the center of my marriage. Lord, help me to persevere and not grow weary of doing good. Help me to keep worshiping you even when things are hard in my life and marriage. Help me to keep loving her even when it is hard.

In Jesus' name, AMEN!

Dear God,

Please make of our relationship a great and holy adventure.
May our joining be a sacred space.
May the two of us find rest here, a haven for our souls.

Remove from us any temptation to judge one another or to direct one another.
We surrender to You our conflicts and our burdens.
We know You are our Answer and our rock.
Help us to not forget.

Bring us together in heart and mind as well as body.
Remove from us the temptation to criticize or be cruel.
May we not be tempted by fantasies and projections, but guide us in the ways of holiness.
Save us from darkness.

May this relationship be a burst of light.
May it be a fount of love and wisdom for us, for our family, for our community, for our world.
May this bond be a channel for Your love and healing, a vehicle of Your grace and power.
As lessons come and challenges grow, let us not be tempted to forsake each other.
Let us always remember that in each other we have the most beautiful woman, the most beautiful man, the strongest one, the sacred one in whose arms we are repaired.

May we remain young in this relationship.
May we grow wise in this relationship.
Bring us what You desire for us, and show us how You would have us be.

Thank you, dear God, You who are the cement between us.
Thank You for this love.

Amen.

Lord, help us to remember when we first met and the strong love that grew between us. At some point, we stopped putting you at the center of our relationship, and ourlove faltered. Help us to restore our marriage by turning to you. Harmonize our misunderstandings and show us the good in one another. Make us mindful of our tongues, controlling the unkind remark and the sharp retort. Help us instead say kind and loving things and ask forgiveness of one another. Let me find within my loving husband the perfect man you gave me, so must he see in me, that virtuous woman I am. Our Lord please drive away, the temptations of anger, uncontrolled outburst, and the devilish seed of discourse being planted in our marriage, we beseech thee and look upon your saving grace and mercies that abound in heaven to crown our marriage. We need the strength to be tolerant, loving, king, communicative, sharing, hoping, and above all, prayerful. Lord God Almighty, we need your compassion to strengthen our inner spirit, that our love will conquer all and save this marriage that is so dear to our heart and our salvation, help us O Lord TO PUT ON THE MOST IMPORTANT CLOTHING WHICH IS LOVE, THAT SHOULD BIND US TOGETHER IN PERFECT HARMONY. We put our marriage into your hands, God. Please heal it and let the dew of heaven refresh and renew our hearts desire to be one and in love so Father God, help us. All this we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Lord, I take comfort in the fact that you know all things. My relationship is struggling, and I don't know what to do. Please reveal to me the things that I, or my partner, can do better in order for our relationship to please you.

And if it's time to end the relationship, please help me to see and accept this. Open my eyes to any abuse that I may be suffering, and give me the strength to escape it. If my partner is hiding something from me, let it come to light so that I can make an informed decision.

In Jesus' Name, amen."

Lord, my relationship has become difficult. There is fighting and unease. There's tension and resentment. I feel that I have nowhere to turn.

Please let there be peace between my partner and I. Grant us the kind of peace that only you can give, Lord, and help us to feel at ease with one another. Drain away any resentment, anger, or tension that has built up between us. Help us to seek compromise rather than struggling with one another in order to win.

Please bless our home to be a place of peace and restfulness, as it should be.

Thank you, Father. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I profess that I do not understand my partner's needs. I don't know how to fix our problems.

Please open my eyes to my partner so that I can see why he or she acts the way they do. And please help me to understand, too, my own motivations and needs so that I can know when I am in the wrong.

Lord, grant us both a greater understanding of one another, and take away the preconceived notions and assumptions that are keeping us from truly communicating. Bring my partner and I closer together, and closer to you, than ever before.

In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
