Prayer For Commissioning A Missionary
Loving and Gracious God, you are indeed the giver of all good gifts
and we thank you today for all your blessings, for the successful outcomes
of our school events and for all our staff members, both the teaching and
support members.
We ask that you bless them abundantly and we continue to seek your wisdom,
guidance, courage and strength. Be with us in our deliberations and help us
to be wise in the decisions we make for the good of all those who have placed
their trust and confidence in our leadership.
Give us insight to lead with integrity that our decisions may reflect what is
right and good. Keep us from short-sightedness and pettiness. Help us to make
decisions that are for the good of all and guard us from blind self interest.
Dear Lord, grant us the humility to always seek your will in all that we do and say.
All Glory be to you, loving God, now and always through Christ and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever. Amen.
Loving God, as your risen Son ascended to glory he declared that your people would receive power from the Holy Spirit to bear witness to him to the ends of the earth: Be present with all who go forth in his Name, especially these your servants who prepare to serve in as missionaries of the N. Church. As they minister as mission companions with your people on other continents, may your love and your truth be known, and may their lives be strengthened by your presence among the people they serve; through Jesus Christ, the one in whom your mission in the world took flesh and dwelt among us. Amen.
Gracious God, we thank you for the gift of discernment that your church has used in confirming the call to mission service: Keep us faithful in supporting these missionaries in their work, help us to quicken mission vision among your people, and strengthen each of us to participate in your mission in the world; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
Lord, we know that you call each of us out.
Out from ourselves into a world that is longing for your grace, love and truth.
In our community, are people who need to experience your grace.
In our nation, are people who need to experience your love.
In our world, are people who need to experience your truth.
We are your people Lord and you have called each of us out,
To be the visible You in this world
As you work in the hearts and lives of all people and nations.
Bless us Lord as we go,
As we go into our community, our nation and world.
Let us not ignore your call, but rather plant it deep into our being.

with the power of the Holy Spirit.
We send them forth as messengers of salvation and peace in your name,
marked with the sign of the cross and anchored in your grace.
Bless the crosses we now give
as a sign of Christ's love and a token of our faith. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ,
you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross
that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace.
So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love,
may bring those who do not know you
to the knowledge and love of you;
for the honor of your name. Amen.
