Prayer For City Council Meeting
God of Love, we trust in You with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. We acknowledge You in all our ways, and in all our meetings, so that You will direct our paths. Father, we do not rely on ourselves for effective results for we are only human and often make mistakes. It is You who knows all things, so, Father, have Your divine way in this meeting, Amen.
Awesome Father, I thank You for this meeting and I thank You for every like-minded individual who is here to fulfill tasks for Your kingdom. I pray that You bless us as we do not walk in the step of the wicked, but we delight in Your law. I pray that we meditate on Your law day and night so that we can be blessed in our meetings, let Your law be evident in our meetings also so that we can prosper, Amen.
Eternal God, I pray that You bless us in this meeting and keep us. Lord, make Your face shine on us and be gracious to us. I pray that we feel Your presence during this meeting because You are with us wherever we go. I pray that this meeting focuses upon You and Your plans for us as a body of believers. Let our actions in this meeting be valuable to our aim, which is to build up and edify one another, Amen.
Oh Lord, please instruct us and teach us in the way that we should conduct this meeting. Please counsel us with Your loving eye on us. Let our aims in this meeting be aligned with Your direction. Let our plans be orchestrated by You. Father, let Your will be done in this meeting so that this can be a meeting that is based upon Your desires for us. Whatever it is that You want to result from this meeting, Lord, let it happen, Amen.
Heavenly Father, in our hearts we plan our course, but we pray that You establish our steps. I pray that we seek You for advice. Let us not make decisions based upon what we know but let us act based upon Your wisdom. Please guide us, Lord. We place this meeting in Your hands. We place our hearts and our minds in Your hands so that You may direct us, Amen.
Precious Lord, please give us guidance in this meeting because a lack of guidance causes a nation to fall, but victory is won through many advisers. Lord, let us not be misguided in this meeting so that we do not lead to decisions that produce ineffective results. I pray that You direct our steps so that this meeting can achieve our kingdom aims. We place You at the center of this, Amen.
Dear Lord, I pray that You guide us always. Satisfy the needs that need to be met during this meeting. Strengthen us as we make tough decisions. I pray that we will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. I pray that we will be fruitful. Father, please guide us so that this meeting can be productive. Let us be effective and decisive, Amen.
God of justice and mercy, thank you for the gift of life, and the opportunity to serve the people of our city. Help us to act with character and conviction; help us to listen with understanding and good will; help us to speak with charity and restraint. Give us a spirit of service. Remind us that we are stewards of your authority. Guide us to be the leaders your people need. Help us see the humanity and dignity of those who disagree with us, and to treat all persons, no matter how weak or poor, with the reverence your creation deserves. And finally Father, renew us with the strength of your presence and the joy of helping to build a community worthy of the human person. We ask this as your sons and daughters, confident in your goodness and love. Amen.
