Prayer For Bishop
that by their commitment to the innocent child,
the Gospel of Life might be preached
in each of our churches;
We pray to the Lord:
who seek to guide Catholic politicians in the ways of truth:
that by their example and their words
they might witness the Gospel of Life;
We pray to the Lord:
that they may be given wisdom
and a sense of justice to speak the words of life
to a world overshadowed by a culture of death;
We pray to the Lord:
O God, who chose your servant (Bishop/Cardinal)
from among your Priests,
and endowed him with pontifical dignity
in the apostolic priesthood,
grant, we pray,
that he may also be admitted to their company for ever.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.
Jesus, Good Shepherd, You sent us the Holy Spirit to guide Your Church and lead her faithful to You through the ministry of the successors of Your Apostles, the bishops.
Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to Your bishops wisdom in leading, faithfulness in teaching, and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries.
As they cry out with all the faithful, Our Father!, may Your bishops be ever more closely identified with You in Your divine Sonship and offer their own lives with You, the one saving Victim.
Renew in Your bishops deeper faith, greater trust in You, childlike reliance on our Mother Mary, and unwavering fidelity to the Holy Father.
Holy Mary, intercede for Your bishops.

St. John, pray for them.
St. Thomas, pray for them.

St. Michael, defend them.
St. John Vianney, pray for them.
All you saints in heaven, pray for them.

Heavenly Father,
in these trying times
when the spirit of the age
threatens Christian values,
give our bishop holiness of life
and wisdom to direct and guide our (arch)diocesan
family so that we may grow in your love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Almighty God,
look with love upon your people.
In your mercy, bless Bishop Medley.
Guide this shepherd you have chosen to lead us.
Give him the grace of your Spirit
so that he may bring us to you
in the footsteps of Jesus our Lord.
So may your Church be built up and your name glorified.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God, eternal shepherd, you tend your Church in many ways and rule us with love. You have chosen your servant, N., to be a shepherd of your flock. Give him a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he build your Church as a sign of salvation for the world.
