Prayer For A Father
Righteous God, I proclaim that my father shall put on the full armor of You so that he can make a stand against the devil's schemes. For the struggle is not against flesh and blood, against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. I declare that my father shall be equipped to stand his ground because he shall be covered in the full armor of You, Amen.
God of Wisdom, I thank You for the life of my earthly father because he taught me so many good things that have equipped me to survive in this life. Your word says that a father deals with his own children by encouraging, comforting and urging them to live lives worthy of God, who calls us to His kingdom and glory. Lord, I thank You for blessing me with a father who has kept Your word and has positively impacted my life, Amen.
God of Love, I come before you to pray for my father. You know how much he suffered and you alone fully know how much was wounded and broken in him. I feel so sad, and at times I feel so angry, so cheated, because I couldn't have a good relationship with him. I don't want to spend the rest of my life resenting my father, so I turn to you to hold him up to you. I know you are a God of mercy. Forgive him and heal him. Please let that forgivenss touch my heart as well. I want to forgive him and know the peace of letting go of those hurts - or at least the peace of not letting them continue to hurt me. I pray for him because I want what is best for him. I want him to know you and to know your love for him. One day, in your loving embrace, may all the wounds in his heart be healed.
God of Strength, I pray that my father remains on the path of integrity so that he may walk securely, because whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. I pray that my father never finds his way on a crooked path. Instead, keep him and direct him on the path of righteousness. Lord, it isn't easy to remain honest and pure in such a corrupt world, but I thank You in advance for my father who remains true to You and Your word, Amen.
Divine Father, I can sense that my father lacks strength right now so please uplift his spirit! I proclaim that You are his refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, he will not fear, because Your name is a strong tower; in You, he can find rest and be safe. Lord, please keep my father under Your loving eye so that he will no longer grieve but will have joy in You, his strength, Amen.
Omniscient God, thank You for blessing me with an earthly father who has been a reflection of Your word on a daily basis. My father has been a husband that has honored his wife and has treated my mother with understanding as they live together. Unlike how society shows me, my father has shown me how a woman should be respected and cared for. I pray that the things that my father's life has shown me will encourage me to be obedient to Your word also, Amen.
Blessed be Your Name, God! Thank You for Your word that guides me and has instructed me to listen to my father who gave me life, and to not despise my mother when she is old. I pray that I continue to respect my father for the role that You have given him in my life. I will not take Him for granted because Your word tells me not to, Amen.
Heavenly Father, I place my earthly father before You now and I ask that You keep him. He has kept Your word: as a Father, he did not provoke me to anger, but he brought me up in the discipline and instruction of Christ. Lord, I pray that the knowledge, morals, and principles that You led him to instill in me will also guide his life so that he may draw closer to You, Amen.
