Prayer For A Fallen Marine
Heavenly Father, I come before You today on behalf of my fallen hero. You say that You know when the smallest sparrow dies, and You know the moment my loved one died. Thank You, Lord, that You have prepared a place of eternal rest for my loved one because they trusted in You. I pray that You bring the soothing and comforting rest that they need, now that my warrior is in his/her eternal home with You. Amen.
God of Heaven's Armies, as I think about the soldiers who have fallen today, my heart breaks for their families. I wish to honor them today with my prayer. You say that whether we live or die, it is for You. I thank You for their sacrifice and pray their deaths will not be in vain. I pray that these fallen heroes will feel my pride in their bravery and commitment to protect and defend. Amen.
God, my Promise-Keeper, You say that You will give eternal life to those who die in Christ. My friend and brother/sister died in honor on the battlefield. Thank You for granting my fallen hero the eternal rest promised in You, Christ Jesus. I pray that as my loved one is there with You now, that You would give my beloved warrior all the comfort that he/she could ever want. Amen.
All-Powerful Father, my heart breaks for my loved one who has been lost in battle. You say there will be a new heaven and a new earth. You will dwell among us, and death will be no more. My loved one trusted in You, Father, so I know my fallen hero is there with You now. I pray that You would wipe every tear from my beloved warrior's eyes and fill them with Your joy until we are reunited. I celebrate the defeat of our greatest enemy, death! Amen.
Gracious Loving Lord, I cannot shake the sorrow from losing my loved one in battle. You say You give them eternal life, and they will never perish. I thank You, Lord, because even though my loved one has left this earth, I know they are with You. What a beautiful thought that my fallen hero is resting in Your hands, with wounds healed and floating in Your joy. Please bless my warrior with abundant love as they dwell in Your presence. Amen.
Holy Lord, thank You for demonstrating the resurrection from the dead that lies ahead for us all. The promise that death will not separate us from Your love is especially on my mind. My precious loved one died in battle the other day, and my heart longs to see them again. Until I join my beloved warrior in Heaven, I pray, Lord, that You will cover them with Your blessings and pleasant memories of my love. Amen.
God of Enduring Faithfulness, thank You so much for all the promises that You have given in Your Word. Knowing that You are a faithful God that never lies, I can pray in confidence, knowing my loved one is in Your presence now. Thank You that their pain and suffering has come to an end. I pray, Lord, that You would replace all of those memories with thoughts and feelings of the love You and I have for my beloved warrior. Amen.

Our sons and daughters,
Husbands and wives,
Fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers
Who have laid down their life for their country.
Whether weary or emboldened, quiet or defiant,
Vulnerable or ready when You called them home,
Their sacrifice is too humbling for words
except these uttered in prayer.
Loving Lord, bless them forever in Your eternal peace.
Let the sounds of strife, the cries of battle, the wounds of war
be calmed for all eternity in Your loving and endless grace.
Let these great warriors find rest at last,
Ever reminded that we who are left behind
Cherish their spirit, honor their commitment,
send them our love,
and will never forget the service that they gave.
