Prayer For Adoptive Mothers

Praying the adoption is successful

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in your mercy hear us and answer us. Amen.

May Our Blessed Lady help you on your journey to adoption

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women,and
blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and
at the hour of our death.
Amen

Dear Father, How wonderful that you allow us the privilege of using that great name. You are our true Father. And today, Lord, I want to lift up those who are giving the least of these a father, or a mother, or both. These children have been (for one reason or another) left behind. You see it in their eyes. You hear it in their voices. And, if you're an adoptive parent, you do your best to remove any trace of rejection or abandonment from their lives.
Lord, I lift up these parents to you today. They make their adoptive journey in all sorts of ways, none of them easy. Some of them give up careers. Some of them sacrifice homes and finances. Some of them travel long distances. And some endure rejection or rude questions from family, friends, or acquaintances.

God, you do love adoption. You've adopted us into your family, giving us all rights and privileges of family. We are heirs and co-heirs with Jesus of all your treasures. We pray today for those seeking to adopt a child. Many children in the world do not have mothers and fathers. Many men and women do not have children. God, bring them together. Create the perfect match. Provide resources. Provide perfect timing. Give endurance and emotional strength through the grinding details. Give wisdom for them to anticipate ahead how to prepare practically for the coming change. Strengthen their marriage ahead of this coming gift. Heal any past disappointment. Parental love is nature. Adoptive parental love has to be SUPERnatural. Give a miracle of love and bonding. May nothing stand in the way of you accomplishing a completion of this match child to parent. In Jesus!

Dear Father,

I am weary today. The world would like for me to throw in the towel and walk away. My sinful, prideful heart would like the same. Physically I am spent. Emotionally I am torn. Spiritually, my faith is waning. Are You really in the midst of this waiting and heartache? My heart is tired of feeling tired. I am so ready for hope.

My soul is indeed thirsty for good news. Will the social worker call? Will the paperwork make its way to the government office? Will my child sleep through the night? God, in this weary world of adoption, I'm learning to lean into the hope You offer in the midst of the uncertain circumstances.

Teach me to thirst after You, O God. Keep me close to You as I cry my tears in the middle of the night. Wait with me as I fill out the paperwork, and teach me to wait patiently as my child struggles in school.

I pour my soul out to You, O faithful God. You indeed are in charge, but sometimes I feel like a tiny boat in the middle of a stormy sea. I am tossed about in the weariness of this adoption. Steady me. My heart is tired, my body is weary, and my mind is clouded. Be my light in the midst of the darkness.

Allow me to see how my waiting is a gift of time. Let me wait on You and give me courage. Strengthen my heart as I wait. Let me trust You with this time and lean into Your love.

Help me to hope in You. It is You who care for the lonely and set the fatherless into families. It is You who chose to adopt me into Your family. I pray I can keep my eyes focused on the truth of the Bible and the truth of Jesus. The promises of the Word are all true. Give me the strength to hope in this truth today.

Amen.

Dear God our Father,

Please help all parents in their role as a mother or father.

Make them an instrument of your peace and love.

Inspire all parents to provide the best example for their children in their words, actions, and temperament.

Encourage all adoptive families to discuss their unique story, and to always stress the love that brought them together.

Help adoptive parents to be merciful and loving in their thoughts and actions when it comes to a child's birthparents.

Remind adoptive parents that You, Our Eternal Father, love all of us in a way that we could never fully appreciate, and we should strive to imitate that great love.

Generously give adoptive parents the wisdom to provide and care for their children in every situation.

Loving Jesus,

Direct parents' speech to be loving and helpful;

Guide all parents' actions to meet the needs of their individual children;

and

Give parents the patience they need to build strong, loving, and faithful children.

Amen.
