Prayer For Actors
Dear Genesius, according to a very ancient story when you were still a pagan you once ridiculed Christ while acting on the stage. But, like Saul on the road to Damascus, you were floored by Christ's powerful grace.
You rose bearing witness to Jesus and died a great martyr's death. Intercede for your fellow actors beforeO God, that they may faithfully and honestly perform their roles and so help others to understand their role in life thus enabling them to attain their end in heaven.
Amen.
The Lord blessed me with the opportunity to live my dreams in the world of entertainment and showbiz.
I am feeling down and sad that work has not been like it was a few years ago. I feel like competition has gotten more difficult and that i am slowly being forgotten with all the new acts coming in. I feel discouraged, but i know i have stil so much to offer with my talents and passion. I pray that opportunities open up and that i can shine once again.
I know i am not the only one who feels this way. I pray for all of those people who also feel the way i feel that they may find their place again in such a difficult industry as showbiz.
I am confident the Lord put us all here to fullfill our dreams and i promise to be of service to the Lord with all that i am in this industry i have chosen to be a part of.
O Lord,
Please save me from bullshit,
From creeping fears that I suck,
And from the memory of my poor mother's face
When I told her I wanted to be an actor.
O God,
Let it not be visited upon me
The director who thinks all actors are a little stupid,
The person in the second row who falls asleep,
Or influenza on opening night.
Let me be patient with assumptions about my endless partying
When I can't afford rice.
Grant me insight.
Guide me on a path out of my own way for five fucking minutes
(Excuse me, Lord),
Let me discover something I couldn't possibly have planned.
Help me acknowledge the truth of each role in myself,
And give me strength to reach beyond me.
Grant me this occasional grace.
For I vote,
I have protested against wars,
I recycle,
I am not a floozy,
And I have creeping hopes that I am good.
For at the end of life I may have many regrets,
But I cannot regret wanting to understand other people,
Because I don't understand the world,
And because life is confusing and painful,
And playing a role is the closest I come to understanding.
Hold this heart open.
Just in moments,
O God,
Grant me peace
With my life.
Holy St. Genesius,
martyr for Christ,
by the grace of the Holy Spirit
through your acting
you came to discover
the truth of the Christian faith.
In your first profession of that faith
you were baptized through the shedding
of your blood,
offering your life for the praise and glory
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray for those who dedicate their lives
to the theatrical and cinematic arts.
Like you may they find the presence
of the Lord in their work
and generously open their hearts
to his teaching,
living it in the midst of the challenges
and demands of their calling.
In this novena, I remember most especially., commending him/her to your care.
Father,
I lift up whatever actor or actress is reading this right now. Father, we ask that instead of experiencing the counterfeit love that the enemy offers in Hollywood in the form of fans, they would feel real love from you God.
Father, you love this person unconditionally, before they ever made their first movie, tv show, commercial, before they were ever known to the public.
Father, I am asking for you to not only reveal your love to them in a deeper way, but provide for them a safe zone not only spiritually, but in their physical, geographical comings and goings. A safe zone where they can be themselves, and be in the company of those who love them, no fans just genuine love for who they are, where the performance and personas can come off.
Father, we ask also that you will bless them in their leisure time with true refreshment, and you will blind the eyes of the fans so they can peacefully go about their business when they go shopping or do their daily tasks.
Father, I pray right now in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, PROTECTION over the person reading this. Any attempts from any evil entity to bring this person down, cause them any distress physically, emotionally, and mentally to be CANCELLED in Jesus mighty name.
We ask Father, for restoration from any gossip and/or slander that has caused this person distress. Father, we ask that the public and the news reporters begin to LOSE interest in the personal lives of celebrities.
I ask right now God, for you to send this person a true friend. I pray that you will be their true friend first and foremost, for all good things come from you. I ask Father, that you show this person that you are indeed a loving and good God, and remove any stronghold the enemy has set up that has caused them to believe otherwise.
I pray against all mental torment in Jesus name. You are a LOVED child of God and you are FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made (Psalms 137).
Father, I ask that while this person anchors themselves in you, that you bring a true friend or friends to this person. Father, we ask that you will raise up a group of other believers that can truly understand the complexities of their profession, to surround them with prayer and affirmation.
We ask Father, for them to stay close to you and listen to your still small voice. We ask Father, that you will open up projects for them to step into that will be pleasing to you. If it is NOT in your will for them to act, I pray for you to lovingly and peacefully guide them into where you want them.
Father, I ask for all these things in Jesus name, Amen.
Sovereign Lord, You have given to some of Your people the gift and ability to perform and entertain. We ask Your blessings upon all actors and actresses, especially Christians. May their talents glorify You and bring joy to those who watch their performances. Help them keep their integrity in an often worldly and secular enterprise. May they never compromise their morals or lose sight of their dignity as children of God. Protect them when they are tempted, comfort them when they feel alone, give them patience with coworkers and fans, grant them the virtue of humility in the midst of praise, and help them follow Your will for their lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, to be an actor/actress is to be your instrument in showing the beauty, drama and meaning of life you have given us here on earth.
Today, as I take on the demanding responsibilities of being your servant, grant me
-a healthy body to welcome the Holy Spirit and be my strength against stress, pressures and any physical threats;
-a clean soul to battle the temptations of fame, fortune, selfishness, and vanity;
-and a sincere heart to effectively communicate your message in every scene that I do to all who are watching.
I humbly ask these qualities from you, Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only with a healthy body, a clean soul, and a sincere heart that I can truly serve you as actor/actress.
Thank you for giving me the chance to be who you want me to be. I offer everything back to you
May your glory remain in my heart forever and ever.
AMEN.
Father, I pray today as Jesus taught the disciples to pray: Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. (Lord's prayer) What does that look like Lord, to have heaven come to earth in the realm of arts and entertainment? We say yes to the possibilities.
We know that we are created in Your image (Genesis 1:26), that we too are creative beings. Father, you have wired us to create, to dream and design, to innovate and invent, to discover, to lead with new ideas, to set the trends and even blaze a new path. May we, through our artistic expressions, creatively communicate Your heart of love, mercy, and grace to a world that needs You.
Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to participate in Your divine plan. Whether it be story-telling on stage, screen or page, if it be dance, painting, sculpting, music, accounting or agriculture, I pray that You breathe on our works of love. May they bless and bring vibrance to our community.
We call out to You for vision and revelation of Your plan for the arts and that which entertains. Father, let us not be satisfied with earth-bound ideas of arts and entertainment, limited by the voices of our culture, but instead, Father, that we would reach for what eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man what You have prepared for those that love You. (I Corinthians 2:9)
We pray that our artistic expression would be filled with joy and welcome Your presence.
May Your name be glorified in all creation.
Amen
