Scripture Reading
John 12:27-28
"Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven: "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."
Reflection
On the eve of Palm Sunday, Jesus speaks words that echo Gethsemane — the troubled soul, the honest acknowledgment of what is coming. Yet he does not ask to be saved from the hour; he accepts it as the purpose of his coming. There is profound courage here, but also trust: the Father will glorify his name through even this. Tomorrow the crowds will shout hosanna; let us enter Holy Week with our eyes open to the whole story.
Prayer for Today
God our Father as we gather for this meeting may we be guided by your wisdom, your love and the abiding presence of your Spirit.
For your wisdom teaches us about what is truly important and gives us to the courage to do the right thing
Your love reminds us that our compassion is not only for those we think deserving but is for all your children who are in need.
Your Spirit empowers us to recognise the ways in which we are blessed and to build a community of learning that is characterised by joy, creativity and a spirit of service.
Through our work may this school be true to the charism of St Dominic and his ideals that it is our privilege to pass on.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord in whose name we gather and who is with us always.
Amen.
