St. Joseph
St. Joseph was the husband of the Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus. A descendant of King David, he was a carpenter in Nazareth. The Gospels portray him as a man of profound interior faith who acted decisively and faithfully on divine guidance: taking Mary as his wife, fleeing to Egypt to protect the infant Jesus, and returning to Nazareth. He is the patron saint of workers, fathers, the Universal Church, and a happy death. His feast on March 19 is one of the most significant in the liturgical calendar.

Reflection
Joseph receives no speeches in the Gospels — only actions. He hears the angel and does what he is told, quickly and without complaint. His obedience was not spectacular; it was faithful, steady, and hidden. The feast of St. Joseph honors the irreplaceable dignity of hidden work: the father who shows up every day, the worker who does the ordinary thing faithfully, the person whose faithfulness never appears in headlines but holds everything together.
Prayer for Today
Awesome God, I pray against false accusations and snide comments in my workplace. I pray that no corrupting talk will come out of our (my co-worker's and I) mouths, but only such as is good for building up as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. I pray that all the rumors that have been circulating among my co-workers be diminished, instead let love circulate among us. Amen.
