Scripture Reading
Psalm 51:1-4
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight.
Reflection
Psalm 51 is David's prayer after his deepest failure, and it has been the prayer of the penitent ever since. What makes it powerful is its unflinching honesty — no excuses, no minimizing, just a direct acknowledgment of sin and a complete appeal to mercy. This is the posture of Lent: not self-flagellation but honest self-knowledge in the presence of an abundant, blotting-out God.
Prayer for Today
Lord of Miracles, We come before you and lay this marriage in your hands. We ask that you would revive this husband and this wife, and draw them toward happy matrimony.
We ask that you would renew their love and passion for one another. We ask that you would untangle the conflicts and strife, and heal the hurts.
We ask that you would bring understanding and tenderness of heart. May they both embrace the miracle that you desire to do for them and with them. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
