One Body, Many Members

Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body — whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free — and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Reflection
Paul's body metaphor makes unity not an aspiration but an ontological fact: we already are one body in Christ. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity asks us to make visible what is already spiritually true. Every tradition's gift is the whole body's gift; every tradition's wound is the whole body's wound. We pray to see with eyes wide enough to recognize Christ's body across every boundary.
Prayer for Today
O Lord, our God, we gather together today to give you thanks and praise your greatness. We praise your mighty works to the whole world. We praise you for your wonderful deeds. Your power is limitless, your wisdom is unparalleled, your grace is overwhelming,
your love is never failing. You promised that you will never leave or forsake us. Let us worship you in spirit and truth. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Amen.
