Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Reflection
Paul frames virtue as something you put on — a deliberate act, like choosing clothes for the day. Compassion, kindness, humility: these do not always arise spontaneously. Sometimes they are chosen in advance, a decision made before the difficult conversation or frustrating moment arrives. What virtue will you choose to wear today?
Prayer for Today
Lord, open our eyes
that we may see you in our brothers and sisters.
Lord, open our ears
that we may hear the cries of the hungry,
the cold, the frightened, the oppressed.
Lord, open our hearts
that we may love each other as you love us.
Renew in us your spirit.
Lord, free us and make us one.
Amen
