Scripture Reading
Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection
Paul's list is exhaustive on purpose — he wants nothing left out. Not grief, not terror, not the worst thing you can imagine. On a day that for many carries the weight of profound loss, this promise stands: love is the one thing that cannot be taken. Hold on to that. It holds you even when you cannot hold it.
Prayer for Today
Lord, I'll just be honest: I feel like everything good has been taken from me. And I feel like You've let it happen. Can I admit that to You? Thank you for being big enough to handle all my fears, angers, and uncertainties. Lord, thank you for this truth: I am afflicted in every way, but not crushed, perplexed but not driven to despair, struck down but not destroyed. Lord, help me- give me Your Spirit, help me know Your goodness even in the midst of this pain. Help me out of this pit, Lord, and onto steady ground. Thank You God for never leaving me. Help me only have hope in You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Amen.
