Scripture Reading
Psalm 91:1-2
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
Reflection
The shelter described here is not a place we visit occasionally — it is a dwelling, a continuous abiding under the shadow of the Almighty. God is not a refuge we sprint to in emergency; he is the place we live. The question is not whether the shelter is available but whether we have made our home in it.
Prayer for Today
Almighty and merciful God,
whose Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own;
look with mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger,
homeless and hungry.
Bless those who work to bring them relief;
inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts;
and guide the nations of the world towards that day when all will rejoice in your Kingdom of justice and of peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
