The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Reflection
Paul's urgency here is rooted in eschatology — we are closer to the day than when we first believed, and living in the light of that is not optional. The armor of light is not passive; it is something we put on deliberately, casting off what belongs to darkness. What needs to be laid down today so you can dress for the day that is coming?
Prayer for Today
Lord, I pray for divine strength and spiritual endurance right now. Even though my outward self is perishing, my inward self is renewed daily. Lord I believe that You make all things new, therefore each day I am renewed by Your Holy Spirit. I will not become distracted by my situation, instead I will use this pressure to help me become more like You and remain on the path of righteousness, Amen.
