Matthew 13:44
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
Reflection
Notice that the man sells everything not reluctantly but in joy — the treasure is worth so much more than what he gives up. Following Jesus is often framed as sacrifice, but the parable reframes it as the best possible exchange. Whatever you feel you have surrendered for faith, this is the question: have you glimpsed what you have gained?
Prayer for Today
Precious Jesus, in You and through faith in You, I may approach You with freedom and confidence! Jesus, I thank You for allowing me to do so, even though I am unworthy and undeserving of Your presence. Thank You for allowing me to come to God. Thank You for always hearing the cries of my heart. Show me how to be as faithful to You as You have been to me. I trust You with all my heart, soul and mind. In Jesus' name, Amen.
