Scripture Reading
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Reflection
The command 'be still' in Hebrew can also be translated 'cease striving' or 'let your hands drop.' God is not asking for religious stillness but for the stopping of our frantic efforts to control outcomes. When we cease striving, we make room to know — to genuinely encounter who God is. The nations may rage, the earth may shake, but in the stillness we find the certainty that God is God and he will be exalted. Rest in that today.
Prayer for Today
Let peace return, O Lord please bless
Our hearts with love, our minds with rest,
Our bonds with unity and trust,
Help us to kneel now at your cross.
Let peace return, O Lord refill
This place with gentle words until
This home becomes a sanctuary
A harbour safe, a hope retreat.
Let peace return, O Lord we need
Your words of life, to sow new seed
To grow new hope, to rise anew
And find the light of forgiveness in you.
Let peace return, O Lord blow through
Our family with grace and truth.
Blow through the storms of life we sing
Our faith is in the peace you bring!
Our hearts with love, our minds with rest,
Our bonds with unity and trust,
Help us to kneel now at your cross.
Let peace return, O Lord refill
This place with gentle words until
This home becomes a sanctuary
A harbour safe, a hope retreat.
Let peace return, O Lord we need
Your words of life, to sow new seed
To grow new hope, to rise anew
And find the light of forgiveness in you.
Let peace return, O Lord blow through
Our family with grace and truth.
Blow through the storms of life we sing
Our faith is in the peace you bring!
Amen.
