Scripture Reading
Isaiah 35:5-6
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
Reflection
The Messiah's arrival would be announced not by proclamation alone but by transformation. Healing, restoration, joy, and abundance in the desert — these are the signs that the Kingdom has come near. As we watch for Christ's coming this Advent, we are also called to become signs of that Kingdom: healing the hurt, giving voice to the voiceless, offering water to the thirsty.
Prayer for Today
Gracious God,
Hold my lovely mum at this time of illness, watch over her when she cannot sleep,
speak your love to her when she is afraid, touch and heal her weak body.
You are the fountain of life. I ask for your life giving water to pour down upon her.
Build her up again, look after her emotions and may she know your loving arms are around her at this time.
Thank you for your love, and for your promises to your children.
Thank you that you will never leave us, and that you bring us a peace that surpasses all understanding.
