Scripture Reading
Luke 1:46-49
And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name."
Reflection
The Magnificat is the song of Advent's heart: a young woman, barely past girlhood, singing of revolution — the proud scattered, the humble lifted, the hungry filled. Mary's joy is not passive; it sings and prophesies. When we welcome what God is doing in us, however small and unlikely we feel, we echo her song: holy is his name.
Prayer for Today
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me to hear your voice.
Touch me once again.
Give me the courage to be your beloved.
Give me courage to choose joy.
I need you now this Christmas.
Be born in me again. Today.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Help me to hear your voice.
Touch me once again.
Give me the courage to be your beloved.
Give me courage to choose joy.
I need you now this Christmas.
Be born in me again. Today.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Amen.
