Scripture Reading
Titus 3:4-5
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit.
Reflection
Salvation did not come to us because we earned it or because God finally found enough to approve of in us — it came because of His kindness. This word, "kindness," is warm and relational, not merely judicial. God is not primarily a judge who reluctantly found a legal workaround; He is a loving Father whose heart moved toward us in mercy. Let this kindness, rather than fear or duty, be the fuel of your devotion today.
Prayer for Today
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase your mercy in us, that, in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but, with great confidence, submit ourselves to your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. Amen.
Amen.
