Scripture Reading

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Reflection
All Saints Day draws back the curtain between the visible and invisible church, reminding us that we are not running alone. All who have finished the race — from the obscure village saint to the great martyrs — form a vast and cheering company around us. Their example calls us to lay aside what slows us down and to run with perseverance the particular race marked out for us. We are part of something immeasurably large.
Prayer for Today
The Creation
When God had made the earth and sky the flowers and the trees, He then made all the animals the fish, the birds and bees. And when at last He'd finished not one was quite the same. He said, "I'll walk this world of
mine and give each one a name." And so He traveled far and wide and everywhere He went, a little creature followed Him until it's strength was spent. When all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea, the little
creature said, "Dear Lord, there's not one left for me." Kindly the Father said to him, "I've left you to the end. I've turned my own name back to front and called you dog, My friend."

Amen.
