Prayer For World Communion Sunday

God of glory and majesty, help us to see our place in your creation with humility and grace. Help us to receive your grace and love with gratitude, and let it flow through our being to everyone we meet. Holy God, may the tithes and offerings we bring to your altar this day not be a testimony to our worthiness but to our readiness readiness to be emptied of pride, that we might be instruments of your peace, love and compassion in our hurting world. We pray in the blessed name of Jesus, our Rock and our Redeemer. Amen.

Loving God, we do not deserve your love. Please make us more willing to walk in obedience to you, always offering grace and trusting your divine providence to meet our needs. Amen.

God of All, Unite us by the power of your Holy Spirit, remind us that we are called to embody Christ who calls us all together, and inspire us to be your church acting in ministry to all the world. Amen.

Gracious God, we praise you! You have entrusted to us a priceless treasure, the good news of Christ who conquered death. In him, we have the promise of new and everlasting life. Empower us by your Spirit to spend our days working for your purposes. As our church shares the gospel with friends and neighbors, may we all draw closer to you. We dedicate our lives and these offerings in Jesus' name. Amen

O Redeemer God, as we gather in worship on this World Communion Sunday, we ask that you send your Holy Spirit to fall afresh on us. We pray for your Spirit to awaken new hope in us. Grant us the vision to see the coming of your kingdom.Help us to celebrate the glimpses of grace that you have given to each of us. Knit our hearts together in worship and communion so that we know we do not struggle alone in working for your peace and justice. We pray this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

God of all nations, we give You thanks that we are all made in Your image, with such rich diversity. On this day we are in solidarity with the faithful around the world. As we break bread together, we remember that we are still one body in You, even though we have different languages, cultures and traditions, different ways of worship, praying and praising. In solidarity we drink the cup together of hope, of new life, knowing that Your will is for Your people to be one body. We are one body, but we are not the sameit is through the gift of diversity that we are able to be Your body. We thank You and praise You for making us all who we are, individually and collectively. We each celebrate our own ancestry, culture and ethnicity, and we pray to You now as You taught us

O God,
Bread of life, Cup of blessing
We gather at Your table
Tired and broken
By systems of oppression and discrimination
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We Gather at Your table
Hungry and Scared
In a world consumed by hate, greed, and envy.
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We gather at Your Table
You reply, Come to me all ye who are weary
And heavy laden and I will give you rest.
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We gather at Your Table.
You say, This is my body
Broken for you,
Do this in remembrance of me.
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We Gather at Your Table.
Grateful and Free
We feast on your love
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We gather at Your Table.
Blessed and Filled
We marvel at Your beauty
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We gather at Your Table.
Beloved and Amazed
We see one another in love.
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
We gather at Your table.
Alive and Hopeful
We walk with the downtrodden, the poor, and the hungry.
Bread of Life, Cup of Blessing
Amen.

Today, God, we confess fumblings and failures in accomplishing unity, as we set aside yet another day to remind ourselves of the task.
On this World Communion Sunday, give us eyes to recognize your reflection in the eyes of Christians everywhere.
Give us a mind to accept and celebrate our differences.
Give us a heart big enough to love your children everywhere.
We thank you for setting a table with space enough for us all! Amen.
