Prayer For The Gifts Holy Spirit

O almighty and eternal God, you have adopted me as your child in the holy sacrament of Baptism; granted to me the remission of my sins at the tribunal of penance; and has fed me with the bread of angels; perfect in me, I beseech you, all these benefits. Grant unto me the spirit of Wisdom, that I may despise the perishable things of this world, and love the things that are eternal; the spirit of Understanding, to enlighten me and to give me the knowledge of religion; the spirit of Counsel, that I may diligently seek the surest ways of pleasing God and obtaining heaven; the spirit of Fortitude, that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation; the spirit of Knowledge, that I may be enlightened in the ways of God; the spirit of Piety, that I may find the service of God both sweet and amiable; the spirit of Fear, that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God, and may dread in any way to displease him. Seal me, in your mercy, with the seal of a disciple of Jesus Christ, unto everlasting life; and grant that, carrying the cross upon my forehead, I may carry it also in my heart, and confessing you boldly before men, may merit to be one day reckoned in the number of your elect. Amen.

Blessed Spirit of Wisdom, Help me to seek God. Make Him the center of my life and order my life to Him, so that love and harmony may reign in my soul.

Blessed Spirit of Understanding, enlighten my mind, that I may know and love the truths of faith and make them truly my own.

Blessed Spirit of Counsel, enlighten and guide me in all my ways, that I may know and do Your holy Will. Make me prudent and courageous.

Blessed Spirit of Fortitude, uphold my soul in every time of trouble or adversity. Make me loyal and confident.

Blessed Spirit of Knowledge, help me to know good from evil. Teach me to do what is right in the sight of God. Give me clear vision and firmness in decision.

Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart, incline it to a true faith in You, to a holy love of You, my God, that with my whole soul I may seek You, Who are my Father, and I find You, my best, my truest joy.

Blessed Spirit of Holy Fear, penetrate my inmost heart that I may be mindful of Your presence. Make me fly from sin, and give me intense reverence for God and for my fellow men who are made in God's image.

Come Holy Spirit, Creator blest! And in our souls take up Your rest; Come with Your grace and heavenly aid, To fill the hearts which you have made.

Far from us drive the foe we dread, And grant us Your true peace instead. So shall we not, with You for Guide, Turn from the path of life aside.

Oh, may Your grace on us bestow, The Father and the Son to know; And You through endless times confessed, Of both the eternal Spirit blest.

Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, With you, O holy Comforter, Henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel: Pray for us!

St. Robert Bellarmine: Pray for us! Amen.

Heavenly Father, I ask your forgiveness for those in the Body of Christ who have dishonoured Your name in any way, by an inappropriate use of the precious spiritual gifts that You have been gracious to bestow on each of Your children. Lord, I pray that I may not be critical of others, but I do ask that You would keep me from straying from the truth of Your Word. Give me a heart to lift up my brothers and sisters in prayer, so that together we seek to become more and more like Christ as we minister in our own God-given gifts, to Your praise and glory.

Give me I pray, a correct and godly wisdom and discernment so that I may determine what gifts are from You and which have been misused for selfish gain. Give me a grateful heart and a desire to give willingly and according to all that You desire for my life and witness. Help me to be an encouragement to other members of the body of Christ and may I be used to encourage others in whatever capacity You choose, physically, emotionally, socially or spiritually.

Increase my faith in You and give me a teachable spirit and the ability to always have an answer for the hope that is in me. Give me the opportunity to proclaim the good news of the gospel of grace, and a willingness to take up any baton that You choose to place in my path.

Lord, I pray that may I be the best that I can be, and ask You to endow me with whatever spiritual gifts You see fit. Lord, I pray You will keep me from envy, when I see a brother or sister functioning in their God-given spiritual gift or demonstrating the beautiful fruit of the Spirit in their lives, but rather may I live and walk humbly before You, all the days of my life, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the Lord Jesus to live and die for me, and thank You for bringing me into Your family because I have trusted Jesus as my Saviour. Thank You that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and that You have sent Him to indwell my heart and to lead and guide me into all truth. I pray that You would take my life and use every part of me, to Your praise and glory.

Father, I know that the Bible tells us that we all receive a gift from You, a spiritual gift, and I understand that this is very special and different from my own natural talents or my own acquired abilities. Lord, I don't really know what is the difference between the true spiritual gift given to me by the Holy Spirit when I was born from above, and what are my own natural talents and abilities.

Lord, I pray that You would use all that I am, my own abilities and my talents as well as the spiritual gift or gifts that You, in Your grace, have seen fit to bestow on me, but I also pray that You would open my understanding to the special spiritual gift that You have bestowed on me by Your grace.

Show me I pray, what is the special spiritual gift that You have given me to use to the benefit of the body of Christ, and I ask that You would make it truly known to me and that You would use it to encourage and edify my brothers and sisters in Christ, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

Dear Jesus, I surrender to your plan just as you surrendered to a plan that no one could have imagined would be the way to salvation for all mankind. I'm choosing today to accept everything you have for me. Please give me the courage and openness never to refuse your gifts.

Dear God, we thank you for the many gifts you have given us. We know that all
our blessings come from you. Help each of us take time to recognize our gifts, and
work toward developing these gifts. May we be willing to reach out to others and
share all that we have been blessed with. It is in helping others that we gain joy
and fulfillment here on Earth. Amen.

Dear God, we pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding,
counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. May we always feel the
presence of the Holy Spirit directing us and guiding us. May we use the gifts that
the Spirit offers to help others who struggle with decisions in their own lives. May
we do all this in love and service to you, O Lord. Amen

God of love and of life, let us take time to look deep within ourselves and discover
the gifts you have blessed us with. May we take the time to direct our lives in a
way that best uses our own unique combination of gifts. May our education help us
discover where our strengths and interests lie. May our faith guide us in realizing
our gifts. May we always be open to the direction of the Spirit and never forget
the love you have for each of us.
Give us, O Lord, the perception we need to look within ourselves and discover
the beauty and gifts we posses. Give us the courage to show others the talents
they have. Help us serve others in the community and in so doing build up your
kingdom. We ask this through Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
