Prayer For Thanks And Guidance
Mighty God, if I try and live my life without you, I will fail. Long ago, you sent your presence in a towering cloud and burning pillar of fire to guide your people through the wilderness. When I don't know which way to go, I ask that I would know your presence near me, guiding me in the right direction. I do not want to go anywhere without you, Lord, because being in your presence is the best place for me. Protect me from harm and direct my steps. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
God of all wisdom, you have promised that if anybody lacks wisdom, we should ask you, and you will give us that wisdom. I ask you for wisdom now, Lord. Help me to make wise decisions that are for my good and your glory. You will give me wisdom not because I have earned it, but because it is a free and gracious gift. You are a generous, loving Father, and all wisdom is found in you. Give me all the wisdom I need right now. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
All-knowing God, your word is living and active. Help me to be attentive to your voice as you guide me through life. Your word is a lamp for my feet. When I don't know where I am going, help me to listen to you and follow the path that you show me. You are a light shining in the darkness. When I don't know which way to turn would you shine the light of your love into the cloud of confusion. Bring clarity to my mind. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
God of all Truth, I spend so much time thinking, planning and worrying about my life. Your word says that, although people plan their course in their hearts, it is you who establishes our steps. Help me to make you the center of my planning. I can do nothing without you giving me the strength to do it. I can plan nothing without you giving me the mind to plan it. The desires of my heart can only be satisfied in you. Direct my steps, Lord, to follow you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Generous Father, you have told me to ask you for whatever I need. You said that if I ask, it will be given. If I seek, I will find. If I knock, the door will be opened to me. I ask you for guidance and direction now, Lord, and pray that you would answer my request. You are a perfectly good Father who only ever gives good gifts to his children. You love to give good gifts to those who ask. As your humble child, I ask for the gift of wisdom today. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Loving Father, please send your Holy Spirit to lead me. You said that your Spirit will teach me all things and guide me into all truth. Remind me of the words of Jesus as I make choices today. When I become overwhelmed with the decisions that are placed before me, please give me the peace that surpasses all understanding. Clear my mind to follow you with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
O Lord my God, help me to trust you with my decisions and my future. Let me lean on you with all my heart instead of relying on my own imperfect understanding. Give me clear guidance in my life, Lord. As I submit myself to you, I know that you will direct my paths and I can have confidence that your direction is always the best way to go. Hear my prayer, Father. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for placing your hand upon me in my hour of need, reminding me that you are always with me.
Although I find myself in a place of uncertainty, despair and desperation, I am grateful for the blessings you have bestowed upon me that I always took for granted.
Though it may appear that you have foresaken me, only now may I see so clearly that you are with me now more than ever. You have lead me to a place where my eyes have opened and I now see the vast differences between my wants and my needs, and trust that you will provide the most important things necessary for my life.
Please continue to bless me with your strength, your patience, your grace and humility as I now turn my eyes to the path you wish me to take. May you provide me with the opportunity to use the talents you have given to me to do your works, and to not only provide for myself but give me the means to provide for others, in your name.
I thank you for all you have given me, and will continue to give to me.
