Prayer For Storms Of Life
Lord, we give thanks to You, for You are good; Your faithful love endures forever. When the winds and the waves rise, and we cringe in terror, we cry out to You in our distress, knowing You can calm the storm to a whisper and still the waves. Please draw near, and be our safety. We praise You for Your great love and the wonderful things You have done for us. Amen.
Oh Lord, You are my Light and my Salvation. Why should I fear? You are the Stronghold of my life. Why should I be afraid? Even though all the elements of nature advance against me, to devour my home and my family, my heart will not fear. I will be confident in Your salvation. I ask that You hide me in the shelter of Your wings. Be merciful to me and answer me in Your compassion. Amen.
God, my Protector, I keep my eyes on You, through this furious storm. My soul trusts in You, and I know it will be well. I ask You to protect my home and my family from the elements. I rely on Your grace, Your mercy, and Your love. I ask that You will stretch forth Your hand and break the power of this mighty storm, for the wind and waves still know Your name. Amen.
Oh God, our Rock, You are our shelter when storms come our way. We are secure, no matter what news we hear of danger. You are our rock and our defense. We will not be alarmed or fearful. When the wind rages around us, we have our safe retreat in You. You alone are our refuge, be ever near us, we pray. Keep us safe through this time. Amen.
Heavenly Father, your Word is a balm for the broken, ballast for the bewildered, and bread for the hungry. This isn't theory, or only good theology; it's experientially true. You've promised to show up and be enough, and you are. In the storms of life, you are nearer than the storms themselves.
As Isaiah reminds us, you've created us and you've redeemed us. You summoned us by name, calling us to life in the gospel; and have given us the sweetest name imaginableMine. No more condemnation; no more orphan-like spirituality; no more making a name for ourselves. We are yours and your banner over us is love. Hallelujah, many times over.
Father, you don't promise we won't experience floods and torrents, fires and flames. But you do promise you will be with us, and that we won't suffer ultimate harm. To know you are near and to know you are good is all we really need. We will go anywhere and do anything, as long as we're convinced that you're with us and for us.
We know ourselves to be precious and honored in your sight, because of what you've done for us in Jesus. We praise you for the one and only truly indescribable giftgiven for us and to us (2 Cor. 9:15). And since you didn't spare your own Son, we can trust you graciously to give us everything else we need (Rom. 8:32), in current and future storms. We don't have to be afraid of anything or anyone, for you are with us and you are for us. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus triumphant and trustworthy name.
Dear God,
Although some circumstances and situations are devastating, there are always things to thank You for. Thank You for my heart and the understanding I gain of You each day. Thank You for sending Your Son to be the sacrifice on my behalf. Thank You for forgiving me, time and time again. I praise You Lord all the days of my life! I lift up the storms in life that cause worry, frustration, and doubt, the storms that try and knock us down. Thank You for giving us the ability to stand in those times, in faith and confidence that You are with us! Please equip husbands and wives with the ability to withstand any storms in their marriages. May they result in a transformed character and a bond that is everlasting. For those that feel crippled by storms, please reveal Yourself to them Lord, reminding them that You are with them. May the peace of God overwhelm us and fill our hearts with joy amidst adversity in Jesus' name Amen!
Lord, I pray that my kids (grandkids) will develop an eternal perspective and purpose, not an earthly one. Help them to see lifeand every challengethrough Your eyes, eager and unafraid to share with others the good news of Jesus wherever they go. I pray that they will set their minds on things above, not just what's going on here, and that they will be rooted and grounded in Your love. I pray they will come to understand the extent of Your own love for themthat it surpasses all the head knowledge they will acquire in school. I pray they will be filled up with You from morning 'til night.
Father, I come to You today, bowing in my heart, asking for protection from the evil one. Lord, we are assailed moment by moment with images on television, the internet, books and newspapers that leave us vulnerable to sin of every kind. Surround us with Your divine hedge of protection. Encompass us round about with Your strength and Your might. Let all who take refuge in You be glad, let them ever sing for joy. And may You shelter us, that those who love Your name may exult in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12)
Lord, I ask that You protect our minds. Father, the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) O God, set our minds on You. Let us not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds that we may prove what Your will is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2) Help us by the power of Your Spirit to think on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything is worthy of praise, let our minds dwell on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
Strengthen us in the power of Your might, O God. Dress us in Your armor so that we can stand firm against the schemes of the devil. We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.(Ephesians 6:10-12)
You are our keeper, O Lord, the shade on our right hand. Protect us from all evil and keep our soul. Guard our going out and our coming in. From this time and forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.
