Prayer for Saint Monica's Memorial
For Fervency in Prayer
Saint Monica (sometimes spelled Monnica) was the mother of Saint Augustine of Hippo, one of the most important Christian bishops and theologians in the history of the Church. However, Monica is just as important, for without her, Augustine would never have become Christian! She was born around AD 330 and is remembered as a woman of great virtue and prayer, particularly her dedicated prayer on behalf of the wayward young Augustine. Her prayers and example had a clear effect on his adult conversion to Christianity and his influential career as bishop and writer.
Prayer for Saint Monica's Memorial
Father,
Your servant Saint Monica spent years in fervent prayer on behalf of her lost son.
Grant us the strength to always pray without ceasing for our own needs and those of others.
And may those who stray off the course of righteousness find their way back to your Son.
In His name, we pray.
Amen.
