Prayer for "Respect Life Month" (October)
For the Promotion of Respect for Human Dignity
October is officially "Respect Life Month." During this time, Christians (and others with a pro-life perspective) pray for and promote respect for human life, from conception until natural death. Many Christians use this month to specifically focus their prayers to end abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, and other acts that, from a Catholic standpoint, violate human dignity and the respect for life that comes from being created in the image of God. It is also a time to promote causes that improve the wellbeing of others. Many Catholic and other Christian schools have events, worship services, and devotions focused on life during October, and this prayer may be used for any of these.
Prayer for "Respect Life Month"
Father,
We ask Your blessing upon all human life.
We know that all people are created in Your image and likeness, and are deserving of great respect and dignity.
Give all people an awareness of the great value of human life.
We also pray for an end to all actions and policies that violate the sanctity of this same life.
We pray in Jesus' name,
Amen.
