Prayer For A Prodigal Son

Holy God,

Everlasting Lord,

My love for my child is like the water from a well that is continuously fed by a great underground river.

Thank you for giving me my precious child.

The first time that bundle of love was placed in my arms, I felt a tidal wave of love enter my heart. My child has been my joy, my delight - the sunshine of my day.

Seasons have changed. As the leaves of the tree mature, so has my child. I look and no longer see a child, but an adult. The heart that was so open and eager to hear my thoughts now is cautious and closed. The gift of salvation is not a gift in my child's eyes.

Of all the things I have desired for my child, salvation is the greatest, yet it feels the most elusive. Lord, my child's rejection of you - the coldness - it creates such an ache in my heart.

Even so, I will not look at what my eyes see. I will look at what my faith sees. I will believe by faith that you are directing my child's pathway back to you.

I will rejoice that the compassionate God of my salvation is not missing one opportunity to draw my son to his side.

Thank you that you are bringing into his remembrance your words, your mighty deeds, and especially your love. Thank you that you are bringing into his life, certainty to every area of uncertainty about you.

Thank you that he will feel your drawing today. Thank you that he is becoming tender toward you and tender toward your Word. Thank you that every good seed that he has heard about you and your Word is growing anew inside him. Thank you that the truths that he knows about you are becoming fresh and meaningful.

I declare by faith that my son will return from his prodigal journey. He will be a mighty man of God.

I pray this prayer for my son in the mighty name of Jesus Christ,

Amen

Father, I come to you in Jesus Name first asking that you would forgive me of all my sins. Forgive me for any responsibility I may have in sending _________ astray. I ask that You would give me wisdom to know how to pray specifically for my child. Show me the areas that need to prayed and lead

me to the right prayer group or intercessors that can stand with me until ________returns to you. Give me wisdom to know what to say and when to speak. I pray that you would bind the hand of the enemy from interfering in _________ return to You. Surround my child with Christians at work, in their circle of friends even on the street. Send angels to minister to him/her. Show them that they are loved by You and their family. Cut off the speech of the enemy from speaking lies to him/her. Create distance between him/her and the friends or family members that continually draw him/her away from you. Most importantly Lord, protect _______. Surround ______ with your angels. Use even this for your glory and build a powerful testimony in his/her life through this experience. We will be careful to give you all the glory for their miraculous transformation, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Lord, I lay my heart before You
And I pour out my very soul.
Desperate, You know what I need
As empty before You I go.

Lord, strengthen my weary heart--
Make it strong once again.
For only You can meet this need,
Hold me tight, my Savior Friend.

I know no other way to go
I'm spent beyond my measure.
Fill me Lord, my Life, my Song
Spin my life with peace, Your Treasure.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we bring our adult children before the Throne of Grace. First of all, we ask you to forgive us for the times we have prayed for them with selfish motives, and hindered your answers to prayer. Forgive us for our self-righteous attitude. It wasn't too long ago that we were mired in that old stagnant life of sin...but you embraced us with immense mercy and with your incredible love. O, LORD, remember Your covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. According to Your covenant
Your Spirit is upon us, and Your words, which You have put in our mouth, shall not depart from our mouth, or the mouth of our descendants nor from the mouth of our descendants' descendants from this time forth and forevermore. We put on Your full
armor and having done all to stand, we stand on behalf of our families. Fearlessly we enforce the triumphant victory of our Lord Jesus Christ against Satan and his destructive strategies. We are here to build up the wall and stand in the gap before You, Father, asking for Your mercy to triumph over judgment.

Lord you are great and awesome, and we fight for our sons, our daughters, our spouses and our houses. On the authority of Your promise we declare that You will contend with him who contends with us, and You will give safety to our children, save them and ease them day by day. You are our LORD, our Savior, our Redeemer, and the Mighty One of Jacob. We proclaim our children as a heritage and a reward from You. We ask You, Father, draw them to epentance with Your goodness, and give them as an inheritance in the Lord Jesus Christ. He shed his blood for them that they might be saved, and Your arm is not shortened that You cannot save. Holy Spirit, we ask You to convince and convict them of sin, righteousness and judgment. May our sons and daughters repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and they will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. According to Your promise we are asking You to pour Your Spirit and Your blessings on our children. Our sons and daughters shall prophesy; our young men shall see visions. Create in them a love for Your Word. Lord, thank you for choosing our children before the foundation of the world and calling them in their youth. Our children are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation. They are Your own special people. Father, confirm Your word and hallow Your name in the lives of our children for Your glory and honor. In Jesus Name, Amen

Dear God,

You know our hearts, you hear our prayers, and care about all that concerns us. You understand the burden we carry and how we want, more than anything, to see our loved ones come to you. Help us to remember that you love them more than we ever could. And you desire to extend your great love and forgiveness, your mercy and hope.

Thank you that nothing is too difficult for you. Thank you that your power is unlimited and you came to set the captives free. Thank you that you wait, arms open, for the prodigal to return, that you look for his arrival to lavishly celebrate that he's come home.

We praise you for you are Redeemer and Rescuer, Savior and Lord. We know and believe that there's no pit so deep that your love can't reach us still. We understand that your mercies are new every morning, and your faithfulness is great.

Lord, we ask that you would halt the plans of the enemy over these we love as we bring them before you right now. We pray that his schemes be demolished and that your plans for good, for a future and hope, would prevail. Would you open blind eyes that they might see your Truth. Would you rescue those walking in darkness and heal the deep wounds of those who've been hurt.

We pray for the miraculous intervention of your Spirit to draw them to yourself, to work strong on behalf of our loved ones who are lost and wandering.

For you came with good news, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for captives and release for the prisoners.

Though we deserved penalty for our wrong, you stood in our place and took the blows on our behalf. You choose to die, so that we can live. Forever and free.

Lord, forgive our unbelief. Forgive the times we've doubted that you could ever change a distant heart. Forgive our hard-heartedness, our weariness, or forgetfulness to pray continually.

Thank you that you never give up on us.

Remind us of how you've changed our own hearts. How your miracle of life and hope has sprung up deep within our souls.

We love you Lord, we need you, and we thank you that you hear our prayers and are at work even now.

Powerfully. Faithfully. Miraculously.

Thank you for the gift of our Savior, God with us. Thank you for your goodness and love

In Jesus' Name,

Amen.
