Prayer For All Occasions

Loving God, I thank you for ____ and for the wonderful gift of her time with us. Thank you for the joy she has brought and continues to bring to my life and the lives of so many others, and especially those who love her. Thank you also for the people who give her joy, those who love her, past and present.

I pray today for strength for _______ in her body and in her spirit: Strength to find whatever healing there is in this time and place, strength as she waits to come home to you when she is ready and You call her to be with You for eternity. I pray for courage for her family as they support her and love her and surround her in care.

Mostly, dear Lord, I pray for peace. Peace for _______ in her body as the pain fades away, peace for her family and loved one in their hearts as they wait with her, and peace for ______ in her spirit as she finds her true peace in you. As in all places, help us know that you are here with us, granting your peace.

In the name of Christ, who taught us not to fear death and showed us beyond doubt that God will grant us victory over mortality through Him, I pray.

Amen.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, source of life and fountain of all good things, I bless your Holy Name, and give you the most hearty thanks for having delivered me from my sickness and restored me to health. Grant me your continuing grace, that I may keep my good resolutions and correct the errors of my past life, and improve in virtue, and live a new life in dutiful fear of you, doing your will in all things, and devoting this new life which you have given me to your service: that living for you, I may be ready when it is your will to call me to you. All honor, praise, glory, and thanksgiving to you, heavenly Father, together with your blessed son Jesus and the Holy Comforter, now and forever.

Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, Physician of souls and bodies, who became human and suffered death on the Cross for our salvation; through your tender love and compassion, you healed all kinds of sickness and affliction; I pray that you will visit me in my suffering, and grant me grace and strength to bear this sickness with which I am afflicted, with Christian patience and submission to your will, trusting in your loving kindness and tender mercy.

Bless, I pray you, the means used for my recovery, and those who administer them. I know O Lord, that I justly deserve any punishment you may inflict upon me for, I have so often offended and sinned against you, in thought, word and deed. Therefore, I humbly pray to you to look upon my weakness, and deal with me not according to my sins, but according to the multitude of your mercies. Have compassion on me, and let mercy and justice meet; and deliver me from this sickness and suffering I am undergoing.

Grant that my sickness may be the means of my true repentance and amendment of my life according to your will, that I may spend the rest of my days in your love and fear: that my soul, being helped by your grace and sanctified by your holy Spirit, may be prepared for its passage to eternal life, in the company of the faithful, and may praise and glorify you, with your Eternal Father and life-giving Spirit.

Amen.

OUR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next.

Amen.

Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications unto thee; and dost promise, that when two or three are gathered together in thy Name thou wilt grant their requests; Fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting.

Amen.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
