Prayer For 1st Communion

Lord Jesus, I love and adore you. You're a special friend to me.

Welcome, Lord Jesus, o welcome. Thank you for coming to me. Thank you, Lord Jesus, o thank you for giving yourself to me. Make me strong to show your love wherever I may be. Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay close by my forever and love me, I pray. Bless all of us children in your loving care and bring us to heaven to live with you there.

I'm ready now, Lord Jesus, to show how much I care. I'm ready now to give your love at home and everywhere.

Amen.

Crucified God, we wear beautiful crosses around
our necks, and hang them on our walls. We have
made your triumphant sign of suffering decorative,
when what it really needs to be is defining.
So make us cruciform Lord, in our weekly
remembrance of Christs death on the cross
in our breaking of this bread.

Let us show by the offering of our hearts and hands
the depth of our commitment to live for him who died for us.

In lives of sacrifice and service, empower our
witness to Jesus Christ, whose cross so powerfully
proclaims your love.

Amen.

The first time I received Jesus Was a wonderous day for me to be united with Christ, my Saviour Who died for us on Calvary. This card reminds me to thank Him for the special gift He gave: The sacrament of Holy Eucharist through which we all are saved. It helps me think of the first time Jesus came into my heart And if I but follow His message He and I will never part. As Jesus said on that holy night so many years ago If we but take and eat this bread Eternal life we will know. Each time I receive communion I'll think of His love for me And I'll thank Him for giving to us the greatest miracle in history.

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.

My Lord Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that I am about to receive, in Communion, Your Body, Your Blood, Your Soul and Your Divinity. I believe it because You have said it, and I am ready to give my life to maintain this truth.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day, He arose from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishment, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy Grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.

O Jesus, You have loved us with such exceedingly great love as to give us the ineffable gift of the Holy Eucharist, inflame us with a burning zeal to promote Your glory by praying for (your child's name) to prepare worthily to approach Your holy table for the first time. Protect, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, this young soul from the assaults of evil, strengthen his/her faith, increase his/her love and endow him/her with all the virtues that will make him/her worthy to receive You. Amen.
