Prayer For Newly Wedded Couple

May they be there for one another when the going gets rough and be there to celebrate with one another when things go right sharing joy in the day to day vicissitudes of life.
Children will come, careers will take up time, in-laws will take up patience, and petty grievances, left to fester, will tear lovers apart.
The highs of marriage will wear off, but may they always remember their love for each other. May their marriage endure in a spirit of kindness and generosity.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Rom. 8:28

We praise you, Lord, for your gentle plan draws together your children, N. and N., in love for one another. Strengthen their hearts, so that they will keep faith with each other, please you in all things, and so come to the happiness of celebrating the sacrament of their marriage.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge; I say to the Lord, My God are you. Apart from you I have no good. I bless the Lord who counsels me; even in the night my heart exhorts me. I set the Lord ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed. Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices, my body abides in confidence.

Help us to bring to our home enough beauty, health, thrift, strength, purity, and ideals, to make it a model of the new world we wish to build with You, and to give You priests, perhaps, but certainly apostles.

With all this, let us never forget that it is through us that Your kingdom must be established--in factories, offices, shops, in all the places we frequent, in our streets and houses...on earth as in heaven.

Have pity on all those youths and maidens whose hearts are wounded and whose dreams are broken. Guard the promises which have been made according to Your Spirit. And may Your blessing soon give us to each other forever. Amen.

I wish I had prayed more alone, with my husband-to-be, and even with others who cared about us and would've welcomed the opportunity to pray over us and our impending marriage.

If you're engaged, I hope you'll often take the opportunity to bathe your relationship in prayer by praying the Scriptures below. Because a wedding isn't the finish line.

It's only the beginning of a life devoted to serving your King together, as one.

And while that is a wonderful, beautiful venture, it's no small feat, dear one.

Perhaps some of you will offer these prayers on behalf of an engaged couple you know and love. Thank you for your investment. Because time spent praying is never wasted time.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this joyful engagement celebration and the commitment that these two people have made to each other, to spend their lives together, as husband and wife.

We come to You today, to celebrate their decision and consecrate their future into Your hands, and we ask for Your special blessing on this engagement ring, praying that he who gives it and she who wears it would recognise that significance of this important symbol, a life-time of loving commitment to one another.

We pray that Your blessing would rest upon them throughout this engagement period, as they plan for their future life together. We ask that this may be a time when their love for each other deepens and grows, as they cement their future happiness on You. This we ask in Jesus' name,

Amen.

You are the God of love and we thank You Lord, that You have caused such a deep love for each other to develop between us. We want to dedicate our future together to You, Lord. Be with us Lord, as we grow closer together, and as we make our plans for the future, we ask that You would guide us and direct us in all our decisions. Lord, we desire to be pure in Your sight and chaste in each others company, and pray that you would keep us from temptation.

Unite us in love and peace and teach us Your ways as You guard us and guide us. And just as You poured out a special blessing on the young couple in Cana of Galilee, we pray that You would bless our union, bless our engagement. Bless us Lord, from this day forward and for evermore. In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.
