In 2023, Thanksgiving is celebrated on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Thanksgiving is an official United States holiday, when people give thanks for the blessings in their life. Many families gather and enjoy a giant family meal. Thanksgiving falls on a different date each year. It is modeled after a good-will meal between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native American tribe. Traditional foods consumed include turkey and mashed potatoes.

Thanksgiving is officially celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, although other countries (such as Canada) celebrate their Thanksgiving holiday on a different date. Many Christians offer Thanksgivings and prayers to God on this day.

In the Catholic Church in the United States, the celebration is an optional Memorial, meaning it is a low-level holy day. Nonetheless, the Church still celebrates this holiday.
